BankBoston Classic
The Bank of America Championship was a golf tournament on the Champions Tour from 1981 to 2008. It was played annually in June at the Nashawtuc Country Club in Concord, Massachusetts, United States. Bank of America was the main sponsor of the tournament. The tournament was founded in 1981 as the Marlboro Classic. The Marlboro Classic was played at the Marlborough Country Club from 1981 to 1983. The purse for the 2008 tournament was US$1,650,000, with $247,500 for the winner. Jim Albus
James Christian Albus (born June 18, 1940) is an American professional golfer. Albus was born in Staten Island, New York. He attended New Dorp High School, and went on to Bucknell University, where he was a successful baseball player. It was while he was at college that he took up golf, which was unusually late for a future pro. He transferred to UCLA and graduated in 1965. Albus became a golf professional in 1968 and worked as a club professional at courses that included La Tourette Golf Course and Piping Rock Club. He won a number of local and regional tournaments while he was a club professional and played in five U.S. Opens and seven PGA Championships. He was Met PGA Player of the Year in 1981, 1982, 1986 and 1988. Bob Goalby
Robert George Goalby (March 14, 1929 – January 19, 2022) was an American professional golfer. He won the Masters Tournament in 1968 Masters Tournament, 1968, after Roberto De Vicenzo notably made an error on his scorecard. It was Goalby's lone Men's major golf championships, major championship among 11 Tour wins achieved between 1958 and 1971. Early life Goalby was born in Belleville, Illinois on March 14, 1929. Donald Ray January (born November 20, 1929) is an American retired professional golfer, best known for winning the 1967 PGA Championship. Lee Elder
Robert Lee Elder (July 14, 1934 – November 28, 2021) was an American professional golfer. In 1975, he became the first African-American to play in the Masters Tournament, where he missed the cut. Elder was invited to the tournament after he won the 1974 Monsanto Open. Personal life One of ten children, Elder was born in Dallas, Texas, to Charles and Almeta Elder. He was nine years old when his father was killed in Germany during World War II, and his mother died three months later.
