Bangsal Thana
Bangsal ( bn, বংশাল) is a Thana of Dhaka District in the Division of Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was formed in September 2009 from part of Kotwali Thana. Points of interest * Koshaituli Mosque, built in 1919, blends pre-Mughal and Mughal architectural styles. Rectangular in plan, it has three fluted onion domes, the middle one larger than those on either side, and multifoiled or cusped arches. Decorated in 1971, it is one of the most ornate in Old Dhaka. Its entire surface is covered with mosaics made from broken bits of ceramic and glass that form geometric and floral designs and calligraphic inscriptions. Administrative Divisions Of Bangladesh
Bangladesh is divided into 8 divisions (''bibhag'') and 64 districts (''jela'', ''zila'', ''zela''), although these have only a limited role in public policy. Dhaka District
Dhaka District ( bn, ঢাকা জেলা, Dhaka jela) is a district in central Bangladesh, and is the densest district in the nation. It is a part of the Dhaka Division. Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, and rests on the eastern banks of the Buriganga River which flows from the Turag to the southern part of the district. While Dhaka (city corporation) occupies only about a fifth of the area of Dhaka district, it is the economic, political and cultural centre of the district and the country as a whole. Dhaka Division ( bn, ঢাকা বিভাগ, ''Ḑhaka Bibhag'') is an administrative division within Bangladesh. Dhaka serves as the capital city of the Dhaka Division, the Dhaka District and Bangladesh. The division remains a population magnet, covers an area of 20,508.8 km2 with a population in excess of 44 million, growing at 1.94% rate since prior count, compared with national average of 1.22%. Asiatic Society Of Bangladesh
The Asiatic Society of Bangladesh is a non political and non profit research organisation registered under both Society Act of 1864 and NGO Bureau, Government of Bangladesh. The Asiatic Society of Bangladesh was established as the Asiatic Society of East Pakistan in Dhaka in 1952 by a number of Muslim leaders, and renamed in 1972. Ahmed Hasan Dani, a noted Muslim historian and archaeologist of Pakistan played an important role in founding this society. He was assisted by Muhammad Shahidullah, a Bengali linguist. Koshaituli Mosque
The Qassabtuly Mosque is one of the most ornate mosques in Old Dhaka, Bangladesh. It's gloriously inscribed decorations are delicate and one of a kind. The foundation of the Qassabtuly Jam-e-Masjid (Hijri 1338), laid by Abdul Bari Bepari and others and situated in old town Dhaka in Bangladesh, was built in the year of 1919. It has recently acquired the name "Koshaituly Jam-e-Masjid" referring to "koshais" (butchers) who used to dwell at the old town. Preview The mosque was built by Qamruddin Sardar. Old Dhaka
Old Dhaka ( bn, পুরান ঢাকা, Puran Dhaka) is a term used to refer to the historic old city of Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.
