Bangladesh Navy Frigate Project
Bangladesh Navy frigate program is a planned project of building 6 multi-role stealth guided missile frigate for Bangladesh Navy. In 2017, plan for the frigate project under the Forces Goal 2030 officially announced. Bangladesh Navy is inspecting proposals from several companies to evolve their designs into a prospective design for the proposed six guided-missile frigates. Development Chittagong Dry Dock Limited (CDDL) has been selected as prime contractor for the frigate program of Bangladesh Navy. The frigates will be equipped with state of the art military hardware, sensors, electronic warfare systems etc. The lifespan of each frigate is estimated to be 30 years in average. Chittagong Dry Dock Limited (CDDL), formerly an enterprise of Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation, is a state-owned military ship repair facility based in Chittagong Port, Bangladesh. CDDL is one of the largest ship repair facilities in East and South Asian region, and one of the three shipyards owned and operated by the Bangladesh Navy. History Chittagong Dry Dock Limited was formerly owned by Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation, built to function complementary to Chittagong Port Authority. The FREMM (French: ''Frégate Européenne Multi-Mission''; Italian: ''Fregata Europea Multi-Missione''), which stands for "European multi-purpose frigate", is a Franco-Italian family of multi-purpose frigates designed by Naval Group and Fincantieri. The Type 31 frigate or Inspiration class, and formerly known as the Type 31e frigate or General Purpose Frigate (GPF), is a planned class of frigate intended to enter service with the United Kingdom's Royal Navy in the 2020s alongside the submarine-hunting Type 26 frigate. Designed by Babcock International, it is also marketed under the name Arrowhead 140 and is based on the hull of the frigate. MILGEM project is a national warship program of the Republic of Turkey. Managed by the Turkish Navy, the project aims at developing multipurpose corvettes, frigates and destroyers that can be deployed in a range of missions, including reconnaissance, surveillance, early warning, anti-submarine warfare, surface-to-surface and surface-to-air warfare, and amphibious operations.
