Bangalee is a beachside town on Wild Cattle Island within the locality of Tannum Sands, Gladstone Region, Queensland, Australia. Geography Bangalee is on the south eastern tip of Wild Cattle Island which is separated from the mainland by Wild Cattle Creek. Most of the island is within Wild Cattle Island National Park. Bangalee is outside of the national park and consists of a number of houses along the beach. The island can be accessed by boat or by crossing Wild Cattle Creek at low tide, a distance of . Visitors to the national park may not cross Wild Cattle Creek in vehicles, only on foot. Residents and guests of properties in Bangalee may cross the creek in 4WD vehicles to access their properties. There are no roads on the island but the eastern side of Wild Cattle Island is a long sandy beach providing access to Bangalee by 4WD. Gladstone Region is a local government area in Queensland, Australia. The council covers an area of , had an estimated resident population at 30 June 2018 of 62,979, and has an estimated operating budget of A$84 million. History Gladstone Region came into being on 15 March 2008 as a result of the report of the Local Government Reform Commission released in July 2007. The legal standing of the council is sourced from the Local Government Reform Act 2007 (Qld). The Gladstone Region was named after William Ewart Gladstone, British Chancellor of the Exchequer and he later became Prime Minister. Gladstone is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland. The seat was created as a reconfigured version of Port Curtis for the 1992 election. It consists of the city of Gladstone and some of the towns of the former Shire of Calliope. This includes the localities of Ambrose, Benaraby, Boyne Island, Builyan, Mount Larcom, Tannum Sands and Ubobo. The town of Calliope is now part of the Callide electoral district. The current member is Labor MP Glenn Butcher. Butcher won the seat following the retirement of long-serving independent Liz Cunningham, who won the seat on National Party preferences after defeating then Labor MP Neil Bennett at the 1995 election. Geography The locality is bounded to north-east by the Coral Sea, to the north-west and west by the Boyne River, and to the south-west by Station Creek.
