Bandhalgoti
Bandhalgoti is a clan of Rajputs found mainly in Amethi- Sultanpur region of Uttar Pradesh. Bandhalgoti is the most prominent clan among Kachhwaha. Bandhalgoti Rajputs ruled a number of estates including Kohra, Amethi and Shahgarh etc. which lie in present-day Uttar Pradesh. History Bandhalgoti sept of Rajputs, claiming descent from Raja Sodh Dev, a scion of the Kachhwaha(Suryavansi) dynasty of Jaipur, who is said to have migrated from Narwargarh, conquered the Bhars of Amethi, and built a fort at Raipur. The sixth in descent from him was Raja Mandhata Singh, who was childless; but with the aid of a saint's prayers a son was born to him, who was called Bandhu, in memory of the circumstances of his birth-whence the clan name of Bandhalgoti. Amethi
Amethi is a city situated in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It is a major town of the Amethi district, in the Faizabad division. The Hanumangarhi temple is located in the heart of the town. Amethi was the 72 nd district of Uttar Pradesh which came into existence on 1 July 2010 by merging three tehsils of the erstwhile Sultanpur district namely Amethi, Gauriganj and Musafirkhana and two tehsils of the erstwhile Raebareli district, namely, Salon and Tiloi. The town is part of the Amethi Lok Sabha constituency and Amethi Assembly constituency, which became reputed as a stronghold of the Indian National Congress party. Babu Himmat Sah
Babu Himmat Sah was the founder and first ruler of the Kohra estate of Oudh (Now in Amethi district, Uttar Pradesh) and belongs from Bandhalgoti clan of Rajput. He was the younger son of Raja Bikram Sah, who was the Raja of Amethi. He built Kohra on the day of Ganga Dussehra in 1636 and also established Lord Chaturbhuj and Shiva temple as the first establishment, then built Kohra Fort, where he was crowned. Kohra (estate)
Kohra was an estate (taluqdari) of Oudh, British India. The taluqdari was controlled by Bandhalgoti clan of Rajputs. Now it is part of Amethi district in Uttar Pradesh, India. History Narwar Nagar was of Madhya Pradesh was the original place of this Taluq. Rajkumar Sodh Dev of Narwargarh established the kingdom of Amethi in 966 and became the first Raja of Amethi. Rajkumar Himmat Sah, the younger son of Raja Bikram Sah, his decendant, established Kohra (estate) on the day of Ganga Dussehra in 1636 and established Lord Chaturbhuj and Shiva temple as the first establishment, then built Kohra Fort, where he was crowned. Babu Bhoop Singh
Babu Bhoop Singh (born 1820) was the ruler of Kohra estate of Oudh (Now in Amethi district, Uttar Pradesh) from 1840 to 1890 and belongs from Bandhalgoti clan of Rajput. He was leader in the Indian Rebellion of 1857. He led a rebellion against the British forces in 1857. He was involved in the War of Awadh of 1857 and the siege of Lucknow residency and to stop Colonel Wroughton, he fought battles at Chanda, Amhat and Kadunala in Sultanpur district. His property was taken under the management of Court of Wards in 1859. On order of Calcutta High Court, by government removed Court of Wards from Kohra in 1870. Amethi District
Amethi district is the 72nd district of the state of Uttar Pradesh in northern India. This district is a part of Faizabad division (officially ''Ayodhya division'') in the Awadh region of the Uttar Pradesh. It covers an area of 2329.11 km². Gauriganj is the administrative headquarters of the district. It is better known due to being the seat of power of the Indian Nehru-Gandhi political dynasty since 1980. The former prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru, his grandsons Sanjay and Rajiv Gandhi (the sons of Indira Gandhi), Rajiv Gandhi's widow Sonia Gandhi and son Rahul Gandhi, have at one time or the other, represented its constituency. The Kachhwaha or Kachawa is a Rajput clan found primarily in India. Shahgarh, Amethi
Shahgarh is a village and community development block headquarters in Gauriganj tehsil of Amethi district, Uttar Pradesh, India. As of 2011, it has a population of 3,201 people, in 525 households. It historically was the seat of a taluqdari estate held by a branch of the Bandhalgoti Rajputs. Today it serves as the seat of a nyaya panchayat which also includes 13 other villages. History The original fort of Shahgarh was founded by and named after Sultan Sah, brother of Bikram Sah of Amethi. His descendants held the Shahgarh taluqdari estate. Originally the estate supposedly consisted of 121 villages, suggesting a regular partition, but this is unlikely since another brother, Lachhmi Narain, received the much smaller Kannu estate. From 1803 to 1810, the Shahgarh estate was leased to Raja Har Chand Singh of Amethi along with the entire pargana of Amethi; it then comprised 40 villages. Sanjaya Sinh (also known as Sanjay Singh, born 25 September 1951) is an Indian politician and a former member of the Rajya Sabha. He was twice elected to the Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh during the 1980s and held state ministerial posts. In 1990, he became a member of the upper house of the Parliament of India, which is known as the Rajya Sabha, and in 1998 he was elected to the lower house, called the Lok Sabha. Rakesh Pratap Singh (born 30 June 1976) is an Indian politician and a member of the 18th Uttar Pradesh Assembly from Gauriganj constituency. He is a member of Samajwadi Party.
