BancorpSouth Arena
Cadence Bank Arena, formerly Tupelo Coliseum, BancorpSouth Center and BancorpSouth Arena is a 10,000-seat multi-purpose arena, near downtown Tupelo, Mississippi, named for the locally based Cadence Bank, a large multi-state commercial banking company. It was the home of the Tupelo FireAnts and Mississippi MudCats arena football and the Tupelo T-Rex ice hockey teams. It was also the home of the Mississippi Hound Dogs of the Ultimate Indoor Football League. The $16 million, facility was built in 1993, and is one of the more modern arenas, serving a small market in the mid-south. Its lot was previously occupied by a shopping mall called Downtown Mall. When the mall closed in 1990 the arena was retrofitted from the old building. The arena also seats 8,000 for sports events, ranging from basketball to rodeos. Tupelo, Mississippi
Tupelo () is a city in and the county seat of Lee County, Mississippi, United States. With an estimated population of 38,300, Tupelo is the sixth-largest city in Mississippi and is considered a commercial, industrial, and cultural hub of North Mississippi. Tupelo was incorporated in 1866. The area had earlier been settled as "Gum Pond" along the Mobile and Ohio Railroad. On February 7, 1934, Tupelo became the first city to receive power from the Tennessee Valley Authority, thus giving it the nickname "The First TVA City". Much of the city was devastated by a major tornado in 1936 that still ranks as one of the deadliest tornadoes in American history. Ultimate Indoor Football League
The Ultimate Indoor Football League (UIFL) was a regional professional indoor football league that began its inaugural season on February 18, 2011 as the Ultimate Indoor Football League before playing as the United Indoor Football League in 2012, then switched back to "Ultimate" for the 2013 season. After the 2014 season, the league merged with X-League Indoor Football. History On February 18, 2011, the first-ever UIFL game was played between the Saginaw Sting and the Eastern Kentucky Drillers. The inaugural game was held at the Dow Event Center in Saginaw, Michigan. The 1997 Spring Stampede was the second Spring Stampede pay-per-view (PPV) event scripted and produced by World Championship Wrestling (WCW). The event took place on April 6, 1997 from the Tupelo Coliseum in Tupelo, Mississippi. The main event was a no disqualification match between Randy Savage and Diamond Dallas Page, which Page won. Rodeo () is a competitive equestrian sport that arose out of the working practices of cattle herding in Spain and Mexico, expanding throughout the Americas and to other nations.
