Banco del Mutuo Soccorso (English: ''Bank of Mutual Relief'') is an Italian rock band. A popular progressive rock band in the 1970s, they continued making music in the 1980s and 1990s. Recently, they were still active, playing live in 2001 and 2008 at NEARfest. Their charismatic frontman, Francesco Di Giacomo, died in 2014. History Inspired by progressive rock acts from England, in particular Gentle Giant, Jethro Tull and Emerson, Lake & Palmer, keyboardists Vittorio Nocenzi and his brother Gianni founded Banco del Mutuo Soccorso in Rome, Italy. In 1972, together with other musicians from Rome progressive scene, they recorded their eponymous debut album which, with songs such as R.I.P. (Requiescant in pace), Il giardino del mago and Metamorfosi, immediately attracted the attention of the public of the nascent progressive rock scene in Italy. Francesco Di Giacomo
Francesco Di Giacomo ( 22 August 194721 February 2014) was an Italian singer and lyricist. He was the lead vocalist of the progressive rock band Banco del Mutuo Soccorso from 1971 to 2013. Life and career Born in La Caletta, a frazione of Siniscola, at 5 years old Di Giacomo moved to Rome with his family. He knew keyboardist Vittorio Nocenzi during the 1971 , and they formed the progressive rock band Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, which made its recording debut one year later, getting critical acclaim and commercial success. Di Giacomo served as lead vocalist as well as lyricist for most of the group's repertoire. His solo collaborations include Sam Moore, Eugenio Finardi, Elio e le Storie Tese, , Piotta (singer), Piotta, Edoardo De Angelis (singer-songwriter), Edoardo De Angelis and . ''Banco'' is the fourth studio album by Italian progressive rock band Banco del Mutuo Soccorso (at that time known simply as Banco). The album was originally released in 1975 on the Manticore Records label launched by Emerson, Lake & Palmer with whom the band shared a firm stylistic similarity. Background Around 1975 the band attempted to make inroads outside their native Italy and released this English sung album on Emerson, Lake & Palmer's Manticore Records label. The album was largely a compilation, consisting of re-recordings of songs from their first three albums, with the exception of one track. Hammond Organ
The Hammond organ is an electric organ invented by Laurens Hammond and John M. Hanert and first manufactured in 1935. Multiple models have been produced, most of which use sliding drawbars to vary sounds. Until 1975, Hammond organs generated sound by creating an electric current from rotating a metal tonewheel near an electromagnetic pickup, and then strengthening the signal with an amplifier to drive a speaker cabinet. The organ is commonly used with the Leslie speaker. Around two million Hammond organs have been manufactured. The organ was originally marketed by the Hammond Organ Company to churches as a lower-cost alternative to the wind-driven pipe organ, or instead of a piano. Evolution
Evolution is change in the heritable characteristics of biological populations over successive generations.
