Banagas
Banagas (formally the Bahrain National Gas Company) is a Bahraini gas company, headquartered in Bahrain's Southern Governorate. Banagas operates LPG plant facilities which recover propane, butane and naphtha from the Bahrain Oil Field's associated gas and refinery off-gas. Some 94% of the total workforce are Bahrain nationals. 75% of the company's shares are owned by the Government of Bahrain, with the remaining shares owned by Boubyan Petrochemical Company of Kuwait and Chevron Corporation's Bahrain subsidiary, Chevron Bahrain. History The company was founded in 1979 by Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa with the objective of utilizing Bahrain's gas resources, by processing associated gas and refinery off-gas into marketable products. Bahrain Petroleum Company
The Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO) is an integrated national oil company of Bahrain. History The BAPCO was established in 1929 in Canada by Standard Oil Company of California for oil exploration activities in Bahrain. It took over Bahrain's assets of Gulf Oil. In 1930 it obtained the only oil concession in Bahrain. BAPCO discovered first oil in 1931. On 31 May 1932, the company discovered the Bahrain Field (Awali Field). After exporting oil and constructing a refinery, it started with refining capacity in 1936. Later that year the Standard Oil Company of California signed an agreement with Texaco, which acquired a half of BAPCO's shares. Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba) is the first aluminium smelter in the Middle East which started its commercial operations in 1971. 84% of Alba's employees are Bahraini nationals and the company has introduced numerous capacity building initiatives to boost nationalisation of its workforce. Sitra
Sitra ( ar, سترة or , ''As-Sitra''), also known as Sitrah ( ar, Jazīrat Sitrah, script=Latn) or Sitra Island ( ar, Jazīrat as-Sitra, script=Latn), is an island in Bahrain. It lies south of the capital, Manama, on Bahrain Island. Isa Bin Salman Al Khalifa
Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa (; 3 June 1931 – 6 March 1999) was the first emir of Bahrain from 1961 until his death in 1999. Born in Jasra, Bahrain, he became emir upon the death of his father, Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. Early life and reign Isa was born in Jasra to Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Mouza bint Hamad Al Khalifa (1933-2009), the daughter of Hamad ibn Abdullah Al Khalifa, and succeeded his father as emir upon his death in November 1961.
