	Andreas Balzar Andreas Balzar, nicknamed Balzar of Flammersfeld (german: Balzar von Flammersfeld), full name ''Andreas Ludwig Balzar'' (1769–1797) was a German robber. At the point of death, he confessed to killing 21 officers with his own hands. Early life Andreas Balzar was born on 28 January 1769 in Höchstenbach in the German mountain region of Westerwald. As the eldest son, he should have followed his father into the priesthood. At first, he acceded to his father's will and attended the high school in Herborn. After being exposed there as the long-sought poacher of the prince's game estate, he was expelled from school, but before he was handed over to the court, he managed to escape from Herborn. 	Joan Balzar Joan Balzar (November 8, 1928 – January 16, 2016) was a Canadian artist, known for her vividly coloured hard-edged abstract paintings, which sometimes included metallic powders or neon tubing. Biography Joan Balzar was born Wilma Joan King in Vancouver, British Columbia, on November 8, 1928, and raised in Victoria by parents Wilfred and Mae King. She was married in 1950 to Roman Balzar, an engineer; the marriage lasted for 22 years, and she continued to be known professionally as Joan Balzar throughout her life. Through her husband, Balzar became interested in science, structures, and technology, and gained easy access to the many industrial materials, such as metallic powders, that made their way into her painting techniques. She married a second time, to Alexander Cotter, taking his name but not using it professionally. After working with various groups, he founded ''Robert Balzar Trio'' in 1996. The collaboration with American jazz guitar player John Abercrombie brought him international attention. He worked together with Joe Newman, Benny Bailey, Tony Scott, Benny Golson, Wynton Marsalis, Lew Tabackin, Sinan Alimanović, Tony Lakatos, Victor Lewis, the Hal Galper Trio, Craig Handy and others.
