Balta (footballer)
Baltasar Sánchez Martín (born 9 May 1962), commonly known as Balta, is a Spanish former footballer who played as a central defender, and a current manager. Playing career Born in Santander, Cantabria, Balta was a UD Salamanca youth graduate. After being promoted to the first team in 1984, he represented them in both Segunda División and Segunda División B over 11 seasons, playing 274 league matches and scoring 22 goals. Balta was part of the squad that competed in La Liga in 1983–84, but failed to appear in any games. He retired in 1995 at the age of 33, after helping to promotion to the top flight. Coaching career Shortly after his retirement, Balta started working as an assistant manager at his only club, acting as an occasional interim coach. In March 2001 he was appointed at the main squad, but was dismissed in October of the following year. Balta is a city in Pierce County, North Dakota, United States. The population was 66 at the 2020 census. Balta was founded in 1912, and is known for its duck hunting. Old Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Wrought-Iron Cross Site, in or near Balta, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. History Originally, the town was named Egan, in honor of Egan Pierce, an official with the Soo Line railroad. It was renamed by the locals after Balta, in Russian Empire (current Ukraine), the original home of many immigrant settlers. Geography Balta is located at (48.167154, -100.036770). There is a natural arch on the eastern side of the island. Balta Island Seafare and Skaw Smolts are the most northerly fish farm and fish hatchery in Britain. Balta ( uk, Ба́лта, ; ro, Balta; yi, באַלטאַ) is a city in Podilsk Raion, Odesa Oblast in south-western Ukraine. Population: The city's population was 19,772 as of the 2001 Ukrainian Census.
