Baltasar Sánchez Martín (born 9 May 1962), commonly known as Balta, is a Spanish former footballer who played as a central defender, and a current manager. Playing career Born in Santander, Cantabria, Balta was a UD Salamanca youth graduate. After being promoted to the first team in 1984, he represented them in both Segunda División and Segunda División B over 11 seasons, playing 274 league matches and scoring 22 goals. Balta was part of the squad that competed in La Liga in 1983–84, but failed to appear in any games. He retired in 1995 at the age of 33, after helping to promotion to the top flight. Coaching career Shortly after his retirement, Balta started working as an assistant manager at his only club, acting as an occasional interim coach. In March 2001 he was appointed at the main squad, but was dismissed in October of the following year. Balta is a city in Pierce County, North Dakota, United States. The population was 66 at the 2020 census. Balta was founded in 1912, and is known for its duck hunting. Old Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Wrought-Iron Cross Site, in or near Balta, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. History Originally, the town was named Egan, in honor of Egan Pierce, an official with the Soo Line railroad. Balta Sound is a sound (inlet) on the east coast of the island of Unst in the Shetland Islands, Scotland. The sound is sheltered from the North Sea to the east by the uninhabited island of Balta. Balta ( sco, Balta; Old Norse: "Baltey") is an uninhabited island in Shetland, Scotland. Geography Balta lies off the east coast of Unst and Balta Sound. It has an area of . There is a natural arch on the eastern side of the island. Balta Island Seafare and Skaw Smolts are the most northerly fish farm and fish hatchery in Britain. History Historic remains on the island include the ruins of a broch and of a Norse chapel dedicated to Saint Sunniva. There are no census records of more recent inhabitation. John MacCulloch visited Balta in May 1820 to carry out the Trigonometrical Survey for the Ordnance Survey. Balta was the northernmost station of the zenith sector. Lighthouse The Balta Light, at the southern tip of the island was one of the first concrete structures in Shetland. The lighthouse was designed by David Stevenson and built in 1895. Balta ( uk, Ба́лта, ; ro, Balta; yi, באַלטאַ) is a city in Podilsk Raion, Odesa Oblast in south-western Ukraine. Population: The city's population was 19,772 as of the 2001 Ukrainian Census. History Balta is located near the Dniester River border with Moldova. First mentions of Balta go all the way to 1526. Until 1792 Balta was part of the Ottoman Empire. In 1797 two nearby towns; Yuzefhrad (Юзефград, pl, Józefgród, until 1793 part of Poland) and Yelensk (Еленськ), were added to the city. It is located in the historic Podolia region of Ukraine. According to the Russian census of 1897, with a population of 23,363 it was the fourth largest city of Podolia after Kamianets-Podilskyi, Uman and Vinnytsia. In 1900, the city's Jewish population numbered 13,235. Pogroms occurred in Balta in 1882 and 1905. From 1924–1929, the city was the capital of the Moldavian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic.
