Ballymoney Railway Station
Ballymoney railway station serves the town of Ballymoney in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. History Ballymoney station was opened by the Ballymena, Ballymoney, Coleraine and Portrush Junction Railway on 4 December 1855. The station was rebuilt between 1901 and 1902 to designs by Berkeley Deane Wise in a Cottage style. The cast ironwork forming the station canopy was provided by MacFarlane's Saracen Foundry of Glasgow, and the cast iron footbridge was provided by the Sun Foundry of George Smith and Company in Glasgow. Goods traffic was ceased on Monday 4 January 1965. The station was also the southern terminus of the narrow gauge Ballycastle Railway, which closed in 1950. Ballymoney ( ga, Baile Monaidh , meaning 'townland of the moor') is a small town and civil parish in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. It is within the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council area. The civil parish of Ballymoney is situated in the historic baronies of Dunluce Upper and Kilconway in County Antrim, as well as the barony of North East Liberties of Coleraine in County Londonderry. It had a population of 10,402 people at the 2011 Census. Ballymoney is located on the main road between Coleraine and Ballymena, with good road and rail connections to the main cities in Northern Ireland, Belfast and Derry. Dervock railway station was on the Ballycastle Railway which ran from Ballymoney to Ballycastle in Northern Ireland. History The station was opened by the Ballycastle Railway on 18 October 1880. It was taken over by the Northern Counties Committee on 4 May 1924. Under the terms of the Transport Act 1947 the London, Midland and Scottish Railway, the Northern Counties Committee parent company, was nationalised by the British Government on 1 January 1948. Cullybackey Railway Station
Cullybackey railway station serves the village of Cullybackey in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. History The station was opened by the Ballymena, Ballymoney, Coleraine and Portrush Junction Railway on 1 July 1856. It then closed in September 1856, and was re-opened on 1 March 1865. There was a further closure on 18 October 1976, and it re-opened again on 28 June 1982. This station was temporarily closed while a major track relaying programme was in operation between March and the end of June 2009. It reopened on 29 June 2009. The listed station building is currently (2014) fenced off, bricked/boarded up and derelict. It has been replaced with a small 'bus shelter' type structure on the platform.
