Ballyhaise GAA
Ballyhaise is a Gaelic football and Ladies' Gaelic football club based in the village of Ballyhaise, County Cavan, Ireland. History The club's first championship success came in 1968, winning the Intermediate championship. Ballyhaise contested the Senior championship finals of 1976 and 1978, but came up short on both occasions. After losing the finals of 2008 and 2014, Ballyhaise claimed their second Intermediate title in 2015, beating Arva by two points in the final. After suffering relegation from Senior in 2016, Ballyhaise lost further Intermediate finals in 2017, 2021, and 2022. Competing in their third final in a row, Ballyhaise won the Intermediate final in 2023, beating Denn by 0–13 to 0–7. With wins over Na Dúnaibh and Glenullin, Ballyhaise reached the final of the Ulster Intermediate Club Football Championship for the first time. Ballyhaise
Ballyhaise (; ) is a village in County Cavan, Ireland. It is situated some north-northeast of Cavan Town. It is approximately a 15-minute drive or 11 km via the N54 to the border with County Fermanagh in Northern Ireland. The River Annalee flows near the village. Location The village of Ballyhaise is located within the parish of Castletara and contains both Roman Catholic and Church of Ireland churches. History Ballyhaise has elements of a planned, Palladian estate village which was built to facilitate a local linen industry in the 1700s. The industry had failed by the 1800s. Today the village is home to a population of 711. The remnants of the Ballyhaise Estate Village lie in the possession of the state who acquired Ballyhaise house in 1905 and has run as an agricultural college ever since. Cavan Intermediate Football Championship
The Cavan Intermediate Football Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association competition between the middle-tier Gaelic football clubs organised by Cavan GAA. It was first competed for in 1915, before a lapse prior to being revived in 1966. The winners qualify to represent their county in the Ulster Intermediate Club Football Championship and in turn, go on to the All-Ireland Intermediate Club Football Championship. The 2022 champions are Castlerahan who beat Ballyhaise in the final. Format 14 teams will contest the Hotel Kilmore Intermediate Football Championship. The I.F.C. shall be run on a league basis up to the Quarter-Final stage and Knock-out thereafter. The Ulster Intermediate Club Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football tournament played between the hundreds of intermediate football clubs in Ulster. There are nine county championships between the nine counties of Ulster. The nine winners go on to play each other in the Ulster Club Championship in a knock-out format. The winners go on to compete with the Connacht, Leinster, Munster and London champions in the All-Ireland Intermediate Club Football Championship. John Mitchel's GAC Glenullin ( ga, CLG Seán Mistéil Gleann an Iolair) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Glenullin, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. Denn, Daniel O'Connells GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the village of Crosskeys, County Cavan, Ireland. They are affiliated to Cavan GAA. The club was founded in 1969 by Mikey McCabe following the merging of the two clubs in the parish, Drumavaddy & Crosskeys. Despite some near misses in the 70's success didn't arrive until the 80's when in 1982, Denn won the ACFL Div 3 league, the first adult county title to be won by the club. In 1986 Denn won promotion from Div 2 and in 1987 would play at the top tier of football in Cavan for the first time. Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). In the game, two types of scores are possible: points and goals. A point is awarded for kicking or hand-passing the ball over the crossbar , signalled by the umpire raising a white flag.
