Ballinure GAA
Ballinure GAA ( ga, Cumann Luthchleas Gael Baile an Uir) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Cork City, Cork, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. Its playing field is located on the Ringmahon Road and it draws its players from the Mahon, Cork, Mahon and Ballinure areas on the south east side of the city. Teams are fielded in Gaelic football and hurling. The club participates in Cork GAA competitions and in Seandún GAA, Seandún board competitions. History The club was founded in 1959. Notable players include Gary O'Sullivan, Gary "Spike" O'Sullivan, a professional boxer who held the WBO International Middleweight belt. The Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA; ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael ; CLG) is an Irish international amateur sporting and cultural organisation, focused primarily on promoting indigenous Gaelic games and pastimes, which include the traditional Irish sports of hurling, camogie, Gaelic football, Gaelic handball and rounders. The 1999 Cork Senior Hurling Championship was the 111th staging of the Cork Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 1887. The draw for the 1999 opening round fixtures took place on 11 December 1998. The championship began on 5 June 1999 and ended on 31 October 1999. It was the last championship to be played using a straight knock-out format. Imokilly were the defending champions, however, they were defeated by University College Cork in the semi-final. On 31 October 1999, Blackrock won the championship following a 3-17 to 0-8 defeat of University College Cork in the final. Cork Junior Football Championship
The Cork Junior A Football Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Co-Op Superstores Cork Junior A Football Championship and abbreviated to the Cork JAFC) is an annual Gaelic football competition organised by the Cork County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by the top-ranking junior clubs in the county of Cork in Ireland. It is the fifth tier overall in the entire Cork football championship system. The Cork Junior Championship was introduced in 1895 as a countywide competition for teams deemed not eligible for the senior grade or second-string senior teams. Cork City
Cork ( , from , meaning 'marsh') is the second largest city in Ireland and third largest city by population on the island of Ireland.
