Ballarat City FC is an Australian semi-professional association football club based in Ballarat, Victoria. For most of its history, the club's home ground was Trekardo Park, before making the move to the Ballarat Regional Soccer Facility in 2014. After the 2016 National Premier Leagues Victoria 2 season, the club members voted to reform the club from Ballarat Red Devils to Ballarat City, a move sanctioned by the Football Federation Victoria as they transferred the club's NPLV licence to the new entity. History Early history The club was established in 1968 as Ballarat SC, and played their first six seasons at Llanberris Reserve, now home to the Ballarat Athletics Club, before moving to Trekardo Park in 1973. Ballarat Regional Soccer Facility
The Ballarat Regional Soccer Facility, also referred to by its location as Morshead Park Stadium, is an association football- specific stadium in Redan, a suburb immediately to the south of central Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. It is the home of the Ballarat City FC, who play in the National Premier Leagues Victoria, the second tier of Australian football, after the A-League. Construction During 2013, the City of Ballarat Council matched a Federal Government investment of $2.675 million announced by then Prime Minister of Australia Julia Gillard in June of that year in a major upgrade of Morshead Park with a view to host training for National Teams in the 2015 Asian Cup, including new grandstands, lights and returfing the field to form the Ballarat Regional Soccer Facility. James Robinson (footballer Born 1982)
James Robinson (born 18 September 1982) is an English football manager and former player who last managed National Premier Leagues Victoria side Ballarat Red Devils from 2014 to 2015 before joining A-League club Brisbane Roar to manage their youth team in 2016. Playing career England and Iceland Born in Liverpool, Robinson joined English team Crewe Alexandra in 1990 at the age of eight, and made his first team debut with the club in 2002, making 15 first team appearances, scoring once against Ipswich Town. He left Crewe Alexandra by mutual consent in 2005 with a year remaining on his contract. Robinson signed for Icelandic club ÍBV ahead of the 2005 season along with fellow former Crewe player Matthew Platt. Upon his return to England later that year, he signed for Football Conference side Accrington Stanley but failed to make a first-team appearance for the club. Caroline Springs George Cross Football Club is an Australian soccer club based in Fraser Rise, a north-western suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, and plays in State League Division 1, the fourth tier of football in Victoria. George Cross play at the City Vista Recreation Reserve, following a move from Chaplin Reserve in 2019, where the club spent 38 seasons. The move to Fraser Rise coincided with a name change for the club, from Sunshine George Cross to the current name. The club was founded by Maltese immigrants. Having been one of eight Victorian clubs to have participated in Australia's National Soccer League, the club's best achievement was reaching the playoffs as finalists in the 1986 season. The National Premier Leagues Victoria, commonly known as NPL Victoria, is a semi-professional soccer league in Victoria, Australia. The league is a part of the National Premier Leagues, and is the highest level within the Victorian soccer league system, serving jointly as the second tier within the overall Australian pyramid. Administered by Football Victoria, NPL Victoria is the latest iteration of first division competitions in the state. Historically known as the Victorian State League and later as the Victorian Premier League, the league was first founded in 1908 as the Victorian Amateur League and would soon become the Victorian First Division. Ballarat ( ) is a city in the Central Highlands of Victoria, Australia. At the 2021 Census, Ballarat had a population of 116,201, making it the third largest city in Victoria. Estimated resident population, 30 June 2018. Within months of Victoria separating from the colony of New South Wales in 1851, gold was discovered near Ballarat, sparking the Victorian gold rush. Ballarat subsequently became a thriving boomtown that for a time rivalled Melbourne, the capital of Victoria, in terms of wealth and cultural influence. In 1854, following a period of civil disobedience in Ballarat over gold licenses, local miners launched an armed uprising against government forces.
