Ballarat Clarendon College
Ballarat Clarendon College is an independent, co-educational, day and boarding school, located in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. Formerly affiliated with the Presbyterian Church of Australia, it now operates in association with the Uniting Church in Australia (but is not governed or managed by the Church) and is a member of the Ballarat Associated Schools. Academic standing Clarendon was ranked number third in all of Victoria in 2020. Co-curriculum Sport The College participates in many sports both within and outside the Ballarat Associated Schools. The Boys First XI Cricket team won the premiership in the 2008/2009 season, over rivals St Patricks's College. The firsts then, after winning this premiership, made the final in "The Lord Taverner's Cup" but were defeated in Shepparton by Notre Dame College. Guy Gaunt
Admiral Sir Guy Reginald Archer Gaunt, (25 May 1869 – 18 May 1953) was an Australian-born officer of the Royal Navy, counter-intelligence officer and a British Conservative Party politician. Gaunt was born in Ballarat, Australia, to William Henry Gaunt and his wife Elizabeth Mary Palmer. Gaunt's brother-in-law was Alexander Stenson Palmer (banker and M.P. for Victoria). Gaunt's brother Ernest Gaunt was also an admiral. Their sister, Mary Gaunt, was a well-known author in Australia and wrote several travel books. Guy was educated at Melbourne Grammar School from 1881 to 1883. Naval career Gaunt's parents wanted him to become a lawyer, but he chose to go to sea. Kurt Aylett (born 2 April 1992) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Greater Western Sydney Giants and Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was recruited in mid 2010 by through zoning concessions. Aylett made his AFL debut in round 17, 2012 against . In October 2013 he was traded to Essendon along with Shaun Edwards (Australian footballer), Shaun Edwards for pick 48. Flynn Appleby (born 21 January 1999) is an American college football punter with the Rutgers Scarlet Knights and a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for Collingwood in the Australian Football League. State football As a junior, Appleby played for local club Cohuna Kangas. Michael John Clyde Ronaldson (born 13 February 1954) is a former Australian politician. Bernard Annen Auwen Dowiyogo (14 February 1946 – 9 March 2003) was a Nauruan politician who served as President of Nauru on seven separate occasions. John Norman Button (30 June 19338 April 2008) was an Australian politician, who served as a senior minister in the Hawke and Keating Labor governments. He was notable for the Button car plan, which involved modernising Australia's car industry by reducing tariffs and government protection. Elsie Jean Morison AM (15 August 1924 – 5 April 2016) was an Australian operatic soprano. Early life Morison was born in Ballarat, Victoria, to Alexander and Elsie Morison. As a child and teenager, she was interested in piano; however, her mother, who was a singing teacher, encouraged her in her vocal studies.
