Ball At The Savoy (1955 Film)
''Ball at the Savoy'' (german: Ball im Savoy) is a 1955 West German musical comedy film directed by Paul Martin and starring Rudolf Prack, Nadja Tiller, and Peter W. Staub. Inspired by the 1932 operetta '' Ball im Savoy'' by Paul Abraham, this film is closer to a revue show than the previous 1935 film adaptation. The film's sets were designed by the art director Albrecht Becker and Herbert Kirchhoff. Paul Martin (director)
Paul Martin (8 February 1899 – 26 January 1967) was a Hungarian film director and screenwriter who worked for many years in the German film industry. He directed 60 films between 1932 and 1967. He was romantically involved with the film star Lilian Harvey and directed her in a number of films until he left her in 1938 for the actress Frauke Lauterbach. They made one final film ''Woman at the Wheel'' together during the filming of which their relationship remained cold. Hubert "Hubsi" von Meyerinck (23 August 1896 – 13 May 1971) was a German film actor. He appeared in more than 280 films between 1921 and 1970. Biography Meyerinck was born in Potsdam, Brandenburg, the son of Friedrich von Meyerinck (1858–1928), Hauptmann (Captain) in the Prussian Army. He grew up at his family's estates in the Province of Posen and attended the gymnasium secondary school in Godeberg. Having passed his Abitur exams, he was called up for military service as a cadet in World War I, but soon was dismissed due to a pulmonary disease. In 1917 he gave his debut as a theatre actor at the Schauspielhaus in Berlin and from 1918 to 1920 continued his career at the Hamburg Kammerspiele. Back in Berlin he performed in avant-garde plays by Carl Sternheim, as well as in several revue entertainments and kabarett venues. Brigitte Rau (31 December 1933 – 24 September 1979) was a German actress. Life Brigitte Rau was born on the last day of 1933, the daughter of Otto Kurt Rau and Martha Adele Örtel. Kurt Edelhagen (born 5 June 1920 – 8 February 1982) was a German big band leader. He was born in Herne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Edelhagen studied conducting and piano in Essen. In 1945, he started a trio, then a big band a year later. He performed on the radio station in Frankfurt am Main, then for three years beginning in 1949 led the Bayerischer Rundfunk in Nuremberg. From 1952 to 1957 he led the Südwestfunk big band. In 1954, he participated in the Concerto for jazz band and orchestra by Rolf Libermann.
