Bala V. Balachandran
Bala V. Balachandran (5 July 1937 – 28 September 2021) was an Indian academic who served as Professor Emeritus of Accounting Information & Management at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He was also the founder, Chairman of the Board and Dean Emeritus of Great Lakes Institute of Management in Chennai, India. He have also worked as the faculty member in Department of Statistics at Annamalai University. Early life and education Balachandran was born on 5 July 1937 in Pudupatti, Tamil Nadu (a small village near Pudukottai, Tamil Nadu, India) as the oldest of 6 children of Jambakam and A Venkataraman. His maternal uncle was S Satyamurti, renowned Indian independence activist and accomplished leader of the Indian National Congress from the Madras Presidency. Pudukkottai is the administrative headquarters of Pudukkottai District in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is a large city located on the banks of the Vellar River. It has been ruled, at different times, by the mutharaiyar dynasty , Cholas, Early Pandyas, Thondaimans, and the British.
