Bispebjerg Bakke (building)
Bispebjerg Bakke is an apartment complex in the Bispebjerg district of Copenhagen, Denmark. It was designed by leading Danish sculptor Bjørn Nørgaard. History The idea of building Bispebjerg Bakke was conceived in 1997 by Klaus Bonde Larsen, chairman of the Copenhagen Association of Crafts, and Professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and sculptor Bjørn Nørgaard. Both sat on the Committee for the Protection of Traditional Craftsmanship (Udvalget til sikring af traditionelle håndværk), which had been appointed by the Minister of Culture and the Minister of the Environment. The idea was to demonstrate that good buildings, in terms of design, craftsmanship and materials, can compete with today’s industrialized construction industry. The small architectural practice Boldsen & Holm, with which Nørgaard had previously collaborated on the Copenhagen waterfront, was brought in as architects. The first models were executed in clay and Nørgaard has mentioned music as a so ...

Bakke, Norway
Bakke is a former municipality in Vest-Agder county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1965. It was located in the present-day municipalities of Sirdal and Flekkefjord. It included the whole Sirdalen valley along the Rogaland county border, stretching from the Aust-Agder county border in the north to Sirnes and the lake Lundevatnet in the south. The administrative center was the village of Sira where Bakke Church is located. History The church parish of Bakke (population: 2,378 in 1835) was split into three civil municipalities on 1 January 1838: ''Vestre Bakke'', ''Østre Bakke'', and Gyland. This occurred because the main church parish of Bakke contained land in both the counties of Stavanger and Lister og Mandal and they had to be divided according to the newly passed formannskapsdistrikt law. Due to the very low populations of the three municipalities, this arrangement did not last long. In August 1838, the county border was moved ...

Bakke Abbey
Bakke Abbey was a medieval nunnery in Trondheim in Norway. History Nunnery Bakke Abbey was founded not later than 1150 and possibly quite a long time earlier. It is not definitely known to which order the nuns belonged, but it seems likely that they were Benedictines. The nunnery was dissolved in 1537 in the course of the Reformation, although the nuns seem to have continued to live there for some years afterwards: the last abbess died in 1561. The buildings were burnt down by the Swedish Army in 1564, during the Northern Seven Years' War The Northern Seven Years' War (also known as the ''Nordic Seven Years' War'', the ''First Northern War'' or the ''Seven Years War in Scandinavia'') was fought between the Kingdom of Sweden (1523–1611), Kingdom of Sweden and a coalition of Denm .... After dissolution The site was replaced by a farm known as ''Bakke gård'' and is now occupied by the properties between Innherredsveien 3 and Kirkegata. During work in a cellar in 1971, rema ...

De Bakke
Mossel Bay ( af, Mosselbaai) is a harbour town of about 99,000 people on the Southern Cape (or Garden Route) of South Africa. It is an important tourism and farming region of the Western Cape Province. Mossel Bay lies 400 kilometres east of the country's seat of parliament, Cape Town (which is also the capital city of the Western Cape), and 400 km west of Port Elizabeth, the largest city in the Eastern Cape. The older parts of the town occupy the north-facing side of the Cape St Blaize Peninsula, whilst the newer suburbs straddle the Peninsula and have spread eastwards along the sandy shore of the Bay. The town's economy relied heavily on farming, fishing and its commercial harbour (the smallest in the Transnet Port Authority's stable of South African commercial harbours), until the 1969 discovery of natural offshore gas fields led to the development of the gas-to-liquids refinery operated by PetroSA. Tourism is another driver of Mossel Bay's economy. Etymology The orig ...
