Baker Hostel
Baker Hostel is a government hostel located in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. The hostel was founded in 1910 during the rule of the British Raj by Edward Norman Baker, the then Lieutenant Governor of Bengal. The hostel is located at 8 Smith Lane in Taltala. It is reserved for muslim male students of Maulana Azad College. History Due to the unhygienic environment and inadequate housing system around the Taylor hostel built in 1896 for Muslim students in Kolkata, the students started a movement for the construction of a new hostel. Nawab Abdul Jabbar initiated the movement in 1908. Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah, A. K. Fazlul Huq played a major role in establishing the hostel. As a result, government built this hostel. Taltala
Taltala (also spelt Taltola, archaic spelling Taltollah) is a neighbourhood in Central Kolkata, in Kolkata district in the Indian state of West Bengal. Khaleque Nawaz Khan
Khaleque Nawaz Khan (26 March 1926 – 2 October 1971) was a Bangladeshi language activist, politician and lawyer belonging to Awami League. He was a member of the East Bengal Legislative Assembly. He was conferred with Ekushey Padak posthumously in 2008 for his contribution to the Language Movement. Biography Khan was born on 26 March 1926 at Achargaon in Nandail of Mymensingh. His father Elahi Nawaz Khan was a sub deputy magistrate and his mother Altafunnesa was a housewife. He completed matriculation from Nandail Chandipasha High School in 1942. Later, he completed intermediate studies from Islamia College in 1944. After that, he got admitted into Dhaka University graduated from there in 1948. Hamidul Huq Choudhury
Hamidul Huq Chowdhury ( bn, হামিদুল হক চৌধুরী) ( ur, حمید الحق چودھری) (1901–1992) was a Bangladeshi politician. He was the founder of ''The Pakistan Observer'', an English-language newspaper which changed its name to ''The Bangladesh Observer'' after the Bangladesh Liberation War. He was educated in Dhaka and Calcutta, and had a career as a lawyer, politician and newspaper proprietor. Azizul Haque (educator)
Sir Muhammad Azizul Haque, KCSI, CIE (27 November 1892 – 23 March 1947), also known as Muhammad Azizul Huq or Mohammad Azizul Huque, was a Bengali lawyer, writer and public servant. He studied at Presidency College and University Law College in Calcutta. He worked to better the condition of Muslim people, primarily in the rural farmlands. This led him to work with Sher-e-Bangla A.K. Fazlul Haque, Sir Abdulla Suhrawardy, Sir Salimullah and Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He remained friends with many throughout his life. 7 March Speech Of Bangabandhu
The 7 March Speech of Bangabandhu was a public speech given by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Founding Father of Bangladesh on 7 March 1971 at the Ramna Race Course (now Suhrawardy Udyan) in Dhaka to a gathering of over two million (2,000000) people. It was delivered during a period of escalating tensions between East Pakistan and the powerful political and military establishment of West Pakistan. In the speech, Bangabandhu informally declared independence of Bangladesh, proclaiming: "The struggle this time, is a struggle for our liberty.
