Bakartxo Tejeria
Bakartxo Tejeria Otermin (born 28 March 1971) is a Basque politician serving as speaker or President of the Basque Parliament since 2012. She is the third woman to hold the position, as well as the longest serving speaker. Tejeria has been a Member of the Basque Parliament for Gipuzkoa since 2001. She is affiliated with the Basque National Party. Life and career Bakartxo Tejeria Otermin was born in San Sebastian (Gipuzkoa) and spent a brief time in Larraul but moved while still a child to Villabona (Gipuzkoa). A law graduate of the University of the Basque Country, Tejeria worked as a solicitor in Tolosa. She also worked as justice of the peace in Villabona from 1997 to 1999. She joined the Basque National Party in the 1990s, and was elected town councillor for Villabona in the 1999 election. 2003 Spanish Local Elections
The 2003 Spanish local elections were held on Sunday, 25 May 2003, to elect all 65,510 councillors in the 8,108 municipalities of Spain and all 1,036 seats in 38 provincial deputations. Basque Government
The Basque Government ( eu, Eusko Jaurlaritza, es, Gobierno Vasco) is the governing body of the Basque Autonomous Community of Spain. The head of the Basque government is known as the ''Lehendakari''. The Lehendakari is appointed by the Basque Parliament every four years, after a regional election. Its headquarters are located in the Lakua district of Vitoria-Gasteiz in Álava. The first Basque Government was created after the approval of the first Basque Statute of Autonomy on 1 October 1936, in the midst of the Spanish Civil War. 2020 Basque Regional Election
The 2020 Basque regional election was held on Sunday, 12 July 2020, to elect the 12th Parliament of the Basque Autonomous Community. All 75 seats in the Parliament were up for election. The election was initially scheduled for 5 April 2020 but was postponed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was held simultaneously with a regional election in Galicia. The 2016 Basque regional election was held on Sunday, 25 September 2016, to elect the 11th Parliament of the Basque Autonomous Community. All 75 seats in the Parliament were up for election. The election was held simultaneously with a regional election in Galicia.
