Bajloor Rashid
Bajloor Rashid, ( bn, বজলুর রশিদ; born 28 May 1962) is a Bangladeshi-born British restaurateur, philanthropist and humanitarian. From 2006 to 2012, he was the president for the Bangladesh Caterers Association UK. Early life Rashid was born in the village of Balikandi, Chandnighat, Moulvibazar, Sylhet, East Pakistan (now Bangladesh). In 1978, he came to the United Kingdom to further his education. Business career In 1980, Rashid opened his first restaurant Curry Garden, in High Street, Dover. Between 1980 and 1993, Rashid and his brother set up a number of restaurants in Kent and London. This gained him prominence in the early 1980s as a young entrepreneur in the curry industry, which led him to join the Bangladesh Caterers Association UK, the largest body of curry restaurant owners. Moulvibazar Sadar ( bn, মৌলভীবাজার সদর) is an upazila of Moulvibazar District in the Division of Sylhet, Bangladesh. History In ancient times, the region was known as Chandrapur or Chandrarajya. After the Conquest of Gour in 1303, many disciples of Shah Jalal such as Shah Mustafa migrated and settled in present-day Moulvibazar Sadar where they preached Islam to the local people. Mustafa would eventually succeed Raja Chandra Singh as the ruler of Chandrapur after marrying the Raja's daughter. ''Curry Life'' is a British independent bi-monthly trade magazine for the Bangladeshi and Indian restaurant and takeaways in the United Kingdom. Content ''Curry Life'' was launched in March, 2003. The magazine was founded by Syed Belal Ahmed and Syed Nahas Pasha, who are editors of the magazine. The magazine started out as a newsletter and developed into a 50-page glossy magazine. It is distributed to over 12,000 Bangladeshi and Indian restaurants in the UK. and is free for curry restaurants in the UK, available in some specialist newsagents and selective Asian supermarkets, and is widely distributed and read all over the world.
