Baihe District
Baihe District () is a district located in Tainan, Taiwan. It is known for its hot springs and lotus farming. The town borders Chiayi County to the north and east, Dongshan District to the south, and Houbi District to the west. Some indigenous Siraya people live here, although their lifestyles and traditions were almost replaced (or perhaps were absorbed) by Han Chinese culture. History In 1875, Scottish missionary William Campbell made a narrow escape from an attack led by Gaw-chi-ko (吳志高), a wealthy local clan head opposed to the establishment of the foreign church. At the time, the place was a market-town called ''Tiam-a-khau'' (店仔口; ) and was five miles west of their chapel. After the handover of Taiwan from Japan to the Republic of China in 1945, Baihe was organized as an urban township of Tainan County. Districts are administrative subdivisions of the Taiwan, Republic of China (Taiwan)'s special municipality (Taiwan), special municipalities of the second level and provincial city (Taiwan), provincial cities of the third level formerly under its Provinces of China, provinces. Guanziling Hot Spring
Guanziling Hot Spring () is a hot spring in Baihe District, Tainan, Taiwan. History The hot spring was discovered by the Japanese troops in the area and it was named ''Taiwan's No. 1 Hot Spring'' in 1920. Baihe Reservoir
The Baihe Reservoir () is a reservoir in Baihe District, Tainan, Taiwan. History The reservoir was constructed in 1965. During the drought in early 2021, the reservoir became completely dry in March-April. In June 2021, a discharge warning was issued for the dam. Special municipality, historically known as Yuan-controlled municipality is a first-level administrative division unit in the Republic of China (Taiwan). Under the administrative structure of Taiwan, it is the highest level of division in Taiwan and is equivalent to a province. Tainan County
Tainan County was a county in southern Taiwan between 1945 and 2010. The county seat was in Sinying City. History Tainan County was established on 7 January 1946 on the territory of Tainan Prefecture () shortly after the end of World War II. In the early years, Tainan County consists of most territory of Tainan Prefecture except the territory near cities of Tainan and Kagi (Chiayi). Townships are the third-level administrative subdivisions of counties of the Republic of China (Taiwan), along with county-administered cities. After World War II, the townships were established from the following conversions on the Japanese administrative divisions: Although local laws do not enforce strict standards for classifying them, generally urban townships have a larger population and more business and industry than rural townships, but not to the extent of county-administered cities.
