Bagsværd () is a middle-class suburb located approximately 12 km northwest of central Copenhagen, in the Gladsaxe Municipality. The town center is recognizable by the Bagsværd Towers, two high-rise apartment blocks. The suburb is connected to the Danish S-Train network through the H and B lines, who service three stations in Bagsværd: Skovbrynet, Bagsværd, and Stengården. Bagsværd Church, designed by Jørn Utzon, is a contemporary church, known for its rounded interior vaulting and the lighting effects of its skylights. Jørn Utzon
Jørn Oberg Utzon, , Hon. FAIA (; 9 April 191829 November 2008) was a Danish architect. He was most notable for designing the Sydney Opera House in Australia, completed in 1973. When it was declared a World Heritage Site on 28 June 2007, Utzon became only the second person to have received such recognition for one of his works during his lifetime, after Oscar Niemeyer. Other noteworthy works include Bagsværd Church near Copenhagen and the National Assembly Building in Kuwait. He also made important contributions to housing design, especially with his Kingo Houses near Helsingør. Utzon attended the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (1937–42) and was influenced early on by Gunnar Asplund and Alvar Aalto. Bagsværd Kostskole og Gymnasium ( Eng: 'Bagsværd Boarding School and Gymnasium'), usually referred to among students, teachers etc. as simply BK, is a private day school, gymnasium, and boarding school situated in Bagsværd, a suburb of Copenhagen. Karen Aabye
Karen Lydia Aabye (19 September 1904 – 15 September 1982) was a Danish writer. In the late 1930s, she worked as a journalist in Paris and London before she gained popularity with a number of historical novels in which strong-willed women were her main characters. Her works also include travel books and a collection of essays. Biography The daughter of Rudolph Christian Aabye, a wholesale merchant from Norrebro, Aabye grew up in Copenhagen, attending Karen Kjær's School. After her school exams, she worked as an office clerk then became a well traveled journalist. In 1929, she went to Paris, where she spent three years working for the weekly ''Skandinaver i Paris''. On her return to Denmark, she worked as an editorial secretary for ''Politikens Lytterblad''. From 1936 to 1937, she was a foreign correspondent for ''Politiken'', first in London and then in Paris. Gladsaxe Kommune is a municipality (Danish, ''Commune (subnational entity), kommune'') near Copenhagen in Region Hovedstaden on the island of Zealand (Denmark), Zealand (''Sjælland'') in eastern Denmark.
