Antarctic Place-names Commission
The Antarctic Place-names Commission was established by the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute in 1994, and since 2001 has been a body affiliated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria. The Commission approves Bulgarian place names in Antarctica, which are formally given by the President of the Republic according to the Bulgarian Constitution (Art. 98) and the established international practice. Bulgarian names in Antarctica Geographical names in Antarctica reflect the history and practice of Antarctic exploration. Miller Peak is a peak with twin summits on the central part of the ridge between Hudman Glacier and Carey Glacier, in the Petvar Heights at the southern end of the Sentinel Range in the Ellsworth Mountains, Antarctica. It was first mapped by the United States Geological Survey from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos from 1957 to 1959, and was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for Charles S. Miller, a U.S. Navy aviation electronics technician who was killed in a crash of a P2V Neptune airplane at McMurdo Sound in October 1956. Long Peak
Long Peak () is a bare rock peak, high, on the extended ridge line, east-northeast of Mount Landolt in the Petvar Heights of the southeast Sentinel Range in the Ellsworth Mountains of Antarctica. Mount Benson () is a mountain (2,270 m) standing at the northeast side of Thomas Glacier and west of Obelya Glacier, 4.6 mi east of Mount Osborne, in Doyran Heights, southeastern Sentinel Range in Ellsworth Mountains, Antarctica. Mount Landolt () is a mountain, high, standing at the head of Hudman Glacier in the Petvar Heights at the southeastern extremity of the Sentinel Range in the Ellsworth Mountains of Antarctica. It was first mapped by the United States Geological Survey from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos from 1957 to 1959, and was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for Arlo U. Landolt, an aurora scientist at the International Geophysical Year South Pole Station in 1957. Drama Glacier
Drama Glacier ( bg, ледник Драма, lednik Drama, ) is the 10 km long and 1.5 km wide glacier in Petvar Heights on the east side of southern Sentinel Range in Ellsworth Mountains, Antarctica, which is situated north of Carey Glacier and Gabare Glacier, east of the east-northeast ridge of Mount Landolt, and south of Razboyna Glacier. It is draining east-northeastwards to join Rutford Ice Stream northeast of Long Peak. The glacier is named after the settlement of Drama in Southeastern Bulgaria. Razboyna Glacier
Razboyna Glacier ( bg, ледник Разбойна, lednik Razboyna, ) is the long and wide glacier in Petvar Heights on the southeast side of Sentinel Range in Ellsworth Mountains, Antarctica situated north of Drama Glacier, east of Kornicker Glacier, and south of the lower course of Thomas Glacier. It is draining the north slopes of Bagra Peak, and flowing northeastwards to leave the range north of Long Peak. Kornicker Glacier
Kornicker Glacier () is a glacier draining northeastwards from the cirque bounded by Mount Liptak, Mount Southwick, Mount Milton and Mount Mullen in the southern Sentinel Range of the Ellsworth Mountains in Antarctica. The glacier flows along the northwestern side of Petvar Heights and merges with the terminus of the southeast-flowing Thomas Glacier as both glaciers emerge from the range. Kornicker Glacier was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (2006) after Louis S. Kornicker, a research zoologist at the Department of Invertebrate Zoology (Crustacea), National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution, 1964–2006, and a member of the Board of Associated Editors, Antarctic Research Series, American Geophysical Union, 1978–90.
