Bagnall 0-4-0ST No. 19
No. 19 - aka (Bagnall No' 2962) is a preserved 0-4-0 Saddle tank (locomotive), saddle tank locomotive, built by W.G. Bagnall in 1950. It was the final steam locomotive to work in the HM Devonport Dockyard, and is currently owned by Phil Croombe. In 1996, No. 19 was taken out of service so it would have its wheel tyres replaced, before returning to service in 1998. Preservation No. 19 is preserved by the Bodmin and Wenford Railway, in Cornwall, South-West England. The preserved locomotive is on hire to the Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway in South-East Wales for future seasons. Bodmin () is a town and civil parish in Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It is situated south-west of Bodmin Moor. The extent of the civil parish corresponds fairly closely to that of the town so is mostly urban in character. It is bordered to the east by Cardinham parish, to the southeast by Lanhydrock parish, to the southwest and west by Lanivet parish, and to the north by Helland parish. Bodmin had a population of 14,736 as of the 2011 Census. It was formerly the county town of Cornwall until the Crown Courts moved to Truro which is also the administrative centre (before 1835 the county town was Launceston). Bodmin was in the administrative North Cornwall District until local government reorganisation in 2009 abolished the District (''see also Cornwall Council''). Under the Whyte notation for the classification of steam locomotives, represents one of the simplest possible types, that with two axles and four coupled wheels, all of which are driven. The wheels on the earliest four-coupled locomotives were connected by a single gear wheel, but from 1825 the wheels were usually connected with coupling rods to form a single driven set. The notation 0-4-0T indicates a tank locomotive of this wheel arrangement on which its water and fuel is carried on board the engine itself, rather than in an attached tender. In Britain, the Whyte notation of wheel arrangement was also often used for the classification of electric and diesel-electric locomotives with side-rod-coupled driving wheels. A tank locomotive or tank engine is a steam locomotive that carries its water in one or more on-board water tanks, instead of a more traditional tender. Most tank engines also have bunkers (or fuel tanks) to hold fuel; in a tender-tank locomotive a tender holds some or all of the fuel, and may hold some water also. Bodmin And Wenford Railway
The Bodmin and Wenford Railway (BWR) is a heritage railway, based at Bodmin in Cornwall, England. It has an interchange with the national rail network at Bodmin Parkway railway station, the southern terminus of the line. History The Great Western Railway opened its branch line from Bodmin Road to on 27 May 1887, and on 3 September 1888 a junction line was opened to connect with the Bodmin and Wadebridge Railway, which had opened its line from to in 1834. The line closed on 3 October 1983 following the demise of freight traffic from Wenford. In 1984, the Bodmin Railway Preservation Society was formed, and they held their first open day at Bodmin General two years later; 1987 saw the Cornish Steam Locomotive Society move their equipment from Bugle to Bodmin. Pontypool And Blaenavon Railway
The Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway ( cy, Rheilffordd Pont-y-pŵl a Blaenafon) is a volunteer-run heritage railway in South Wales, running trains between a halt platform opposite the Whistle Inn public house (famed for its collection of miners' lamps) southwards to the town of Blaenavon via a two-platform station at the site of former colliery furnace of the Big Pit National Coal Museum. Bagnall Fireless Locomotives (preserved)
Six of the only 14 Bagnall fireless locomotives built by W. G. Bagnall of Stafford, England, have been preserved. Brief histories of them are given in this article and they are listed by works number. All are standard gauge 0-4-0s except where otherwise stated. 2216 This unusual gauge 2-4-0, named "Unique", is the first fireless locomotive built by Bagnall. It was ordered by Edward Lloyd Ltd in February 1923 and delivered to their paper mills at Sittingbourne, Kent in February 1924. During its operational life, the steam reservoir was charged to from a charging plant at Kemsley, and a pressure reducing valve admitted steam to the cylinders at . It was capable of working for 8 hours on one charge, although was rarely used for more than 4 hours at a time.
