Tamale, Ghana
Tamale (Dagbani : ), officially called Tamale Metropolitan Area is the capital city of the Northern Region of Ghana. Tamale is Ghana's third-largest city and an emerging investment hotspot in West Africa. It has a projected population of 950,124 according to the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly Official Website. It is the fastest-growing city in West Africa. It is located north of Accra. Mumuni Bawumia
Alhaji Mumuni Bawumia was a Ghanaian politician, lawyer and the paramount chief of Kperiga in the then Northern region of Ghana. He was chairman of the council of state in the 4th republic from 1993 to 2000. Career Bawumia was a member of the national assembly of Ghana from 1951 to 1966. He served as clerk to the district council of Mamprusi and then to the Mamprusi state council. He was member of the Northern People's Party and later the United Party. He defected away from the United Party whilst still in parliament and cross-carpeted to the Convention People's Party in 1958. The Northern Region is one of the sixteen regions of Ghana. It is located in the north of the country and was the largest of the sixteen regions, covering an area of 70,384 square kilometres or 31 percent of Ghana's area until December 2018 when the Savannah Region and North East Region were created from it. Ayeebo Asumda (1924-2002) was a Ghanaian educationist and politician. He served as a minister of state during the first republic. He was the first regional commissioner (regional minister) for the Upper Region. A region that comprised what we know today as the Upper East Region and the Upper West Region. Bukari Adama
Bukari Kpegla Adama (15 November 1925 – 2 November 2003) was a Ghanaian politician and a minister of state in the Second Republic. Early life and education He was born at Busa, in the Wa district, on 15 November 1925. He attended Wa Native Authority Primary Boarding School in 1934, completing in 1939; and Tamale Government Middle Boarding School, Tamale from 1940 to 1943. He proceeded to the Tamale Government Training College, Tamale and subsequently left in 1944 to join the Medical Field Unit (M.F.U.) as a technician specialising in yaws and typhoid. He resigned in that same year to go into active politics. Jatoe Kaleo (1928–1998) was a Ghanaian traditional ruler, politician and founding member of the Northern Peoples Party. Early life and education Jatoe Kaleo was born in July 1928 at Kaleo a Village in the Nadowli District of the Upper West Region of Ghana. He was educated at the Native Authority Primary Boarding School, at Wa in the Upper West Region of Ghana from 1935 to 1941. Simon Diedong Dombo
Simon Diedong Dombo (1925–1998) was a Ghanaian politician, teacher and king. He was a Member of Parliament that represented Jirapa-Lambussie District in the first Parliament of the first and second Republic of Ghana. Early life and education Simon was born in 1925, He attended Government Teacher Training College Tamale where he obtained his Teachers' Training Certificate. Sagnarigu District
Sagnarigu Municipal District is one of the sixteen districts in Northern Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Tamale Municipal District in 1988, which was created from the former West Dagomba District Council, until a small northern part of the district was split off to create Sagnarigu District on 24 June 2012; thus the remaining part has been retained as Tamale Metropolitan District (which it was elevated to metropolitan district assembly status in August 2004). However, on 15 March 2018, it was elevated to municipal district assembly status to become Sagnarigu Municipal District. Hilla Limann
Hilla Limann, (12 December 1934 – 23 January 1998) was a Ghanaian diplomat and politician who served the President of Ghana from 24 September 1979 to 31 December 1981. He served as a diplomat in Lome, Togo and Geneva, Switzerland. Education Limann, whose original last name was Babini, was born in the northern Gold Coast town of Gwollu in the Sissala West District of the Upper West Region to a poor family. He managed to gain an excellent education, and took up a foreign service career. Hilla completed his basic school education at the Government Middle School, Tamale, in 1949.
