Badr Gunba
Badr Gunba (born 1981) was the Minister for Culture and the Preservation of Historical and Cultural Heritage of Abkhazia from 2011 until 2014. He was appointed by newly elected President Alexander Ankvab on 13 October 2011. Following the May 2014 revolution and the election of President Raul Khajimba, Gunba was replaced as minister by Elvira Arsalia. Vice President Of Abkhazia
The vice president of the Abkhaz Republic, a partially recognized state, internationally regarded as a part of Georgia, is the first in the presidential line of succession, becoming the new president of Abkhazia upon the death, resignation, or removal of the president. Additionally, the vice president would assume the presidency in case the president becomes incapable of carrying out the presidential duties. Eligibility According to the article 54 of the Constitution of Abkhazia, a citizen of Abkhazia, no younger than 35 years old and no older than 65 years old, who is in possession of suffrage, may be elected vice president. 2020 Abkhazian Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in the Republic of Abkhazia on 22 March 2020 following the decision of the Supreme Court to annul the results of the 2019 election on 10 January, and the subsequent resignation of President Raul Khajimba due to protests against his presidency. Aslan Bzhania was considered the frontrunner in the elections, and was elected with around 59% of the vote. Elvira Arsalia
Elvira Arsalia (born 1978) is the current Minister for Culture and the Preservation of Historical and Cultural Heritage of Abkhazia. Early life Arsalia was born in 1978 in Abkhazia. In 2000, she graduated from the Design faculty of the Ufa Technical Institute for Services. Career From 2001 until 2014, Arsalia was Director of the Central Exhibition Hall of the Artists Union of Abkhazia. Since 2002, she has been scene-painter at the Abkhaz Drama Theatre. In 2011, Arsalia designed the costumes of the Honour Guard of the President of Abkhazia. Raul Jumkovich Khajimba ( ab, Рауль Џьумка-иҧа Ҳаџьымба, ka, რაულ ჯუმკას-ძე ჰაჯიმბა; born 21 March 1958) is an Abkhazian politician, and served as President of Abkhazia from 25 September 2014 until 12 January 2020. He was also Chairman of the Forum for the National Unity of Abkhazia from 2010 to 2015. Khajimba previously held the offices of Vice President (2005–2009), Prime Minister (2003–2004) and Defence Minister (2002–2003). He unsuccessfully ran for President in 2004, 2009 and 2011. Abkhazian Revolution
The Abkhazian Revolution took place in 2014, when President Aleksandr Ankvab resigned after hundreds of demonstrators stormed his office. After mass protests in the capital Sukhumi and the occupation of his office on 27 May, Ankvab fled to his hometown of Gudauta and ultimately resigned on 1 June, after previously denouncing the demonstration as an attempted coup d'état. The uprising was attributed to public anger with Ankvab over his perceived liberal policy toward ethnic Georgians in Abkhazia, a breakaway republic with limited recognition. Although Abkhazia seceded from Georgia in 1992, the Ankvab administration allowed ethnic Georgians to register as voters and receive Abkhazian passports.
