Badminton At The 2023 SEA Games – Mixed Team
The mixed team badminton tournament at the 2023 SEA Games was held from 8 to 10 May 2023 at the Morodok Techo Badminton Hall, Phnom Penh, Cambodia. This is for the first time the mixed team event has been contested in the SEA Games. This event particularly contested for non stronger badminton nations. It is to provide an opportunity for other nations to win medals in badminton event and also introduced to help the development of badminton sport. Morodok Techo National Sports Complex
The Morodok Techo National Sports Complex ( km, ពហុកីឡដ្ឋានជាតិមរតកតេជោ) is a sports complex in Phnom Penh, Cambodia which is set to host the 2023 Southeast Asian Games. History Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen in August 2012 approved the creation of an inter-ministerial committee to manage the construction of the Morodok Techo National Sports Complex in a lot in Phnom Penh. Parts of the Boeung Pong Peay lake were reclaimed for the construction of the facility. According to the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, the sports complex would be the country's first "modern multipurpose and international standard sports facility". Costing around $200 million, the sports complex's construction which began in April 2013 was funded by the Chinese government. Thet Htar Thuzar ( my, သက်ထားသူဇာ; born 15 March 1999) is a Burmese badminton player. She participated at the 2013 SEA Games in her home country Myanmar. She won her first International title at the Egypt International 2018. As of 2019 she had reached eight finals, most of them in the African Badminton Circuit, winning six events (in Uganda, Kenya, Mauritius, Benin, Ivory Coast and again in Egypt). Early life and training Born in 1999 in Yangon, a career in badminton was always in the cards for Thet Htar; she was born to parents who are both badminton players. She first picked up a badminton racket when she was seven years old. Thet Htar was raised briefly in Thailand since her father was serving as a coach there. She juggled sports and studies in Thailand and won third prize in her first competition at the age of seven.
