Badminton At The 2023 SEA Games – Individual Event
The individual events for badminton at the 2023 SEA Games was held from 12 to 16 May 2023 at the Morodok Techo Badminton Hall, Phnom Penh, Cambodia. It was contesting five events: the men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles. Morodok Techo National Sports Complex
The Morodok Techo National Sports Complex ( km, ពហុកីឡដ្ឋានជាតិមរតកតេជោ) is a sports complex in Phnom Penh, Cambodia which is set to host the 2023 Southeast Asian Games. History Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen in August 2012 approved the creation of an inter-ministerial committee to manage the construction of the Morodok Techo National Sports Complex in a lot in Phnom Penh. Parts of the Boeung Pong Peay lake were reclaimed for the construction of the facility. According to the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, the sports complex would be the country's first "modern multipurpose and international standard sports facility". Costing around $200 million, the sports complex's construction which began in April 2013 was funded by the Chinese government. Lee Shun Yang
Lee Shun Yang (, born 27 June 2001) is a Malaysian badminton player. He won the silver medals in the men's team at the 2021 and 2023 SEA Games; and also a men's singles bronze medal in 2023. Career Lee competed in the 2019 BWF World Junior Championships. In the men's singles event, he lost in the first round to Joakim Oldorff of Finland. In 2021, he won his first senior title at the Hellas International. In 2022, Lee finished up as a semifinalist at the Ukraine Open. A few months later, Lee helped the Malaysian men's team to clinch silver at the 2021 SEA Games. Lee made his second appearance at the SEA Games in 2023, and winning a silver medal in the men's team, and also a bronze medal in the men's singles. Alvin Nitura Morada (born 12 April 1997) is a Filipino badminton player. He was selected for the Filipino badminton squad that competed in the 2020 Badminton Asia Team Championships. Career In 2015, Morada and his partner Aries Delos Santos were runners-up at the 2015 Iran Fajr International. He was also runner-up at the 2019 Sydney International with Peter Gabriel Magnaye. Christian Bernardo
Christian Bernardo (born 25 July 1998) is a Filipino badminton player. Career In his junior career, he partnered with Alvin Morada and entered the finals of the 2015 Victor Australian Junior International. They also won the boys' doubles title at the Singapore Youth International Series in 2015. He also played mixed doubles with Eleanor Inlayo and were runners-up at the Victor Australian Junior International. In 2022, under the coach of Rosman Razak, Bernardo returned to badminton and reestablished his partnership with Morada. Bagas Maulana
Bagas Maulana (born 20 July 1998) is an Indonesian badminton player affiliated with Djarum club. Career In the junior event, Maulana won a boys' doubles Junior Grand Prix title in 2016 partnered with Muhammad Fachrikar. In 2018, Maulana teamed-up with Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, finished as runner-up at the Indonesia International. He and his partner won their first International title at the 2019 Finnish Open. Muhammad Shohibul Fikri (born 16 November 1999) is an Indonesian badminton player affiliated with SGS PLN Bandung club. Thet Htar Thuzar
Thet Htar Thuzar ( my, သက်ထားသူဇာ; born 15 March 1999) is a Burmese badminton player. She participated at the 2013 SEA Games in her home country Myanmar. She won her first International title at the Egypt International 2018. As of 2019 she had reached eight finals, most of them in the African Badminton Circuit, winning six events (in Uganda, Kenya, Mauritius, Benin, Ivory Coast and again in Egypt).
