Badminton At The 2008 Summer Olympics – Mixed Doubles
These are the results of the mixed doubles competition in badminton at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. The tournament consisted of a single-elimination tournament. Matches were played using a best-of-three games format. Games were played to 21 points, using rally scoring. Each game had to be won by a margin of two points, except when the game was won by a player who reached 30 even if the lead was only 1 at that point. The top four seeds in the tournament were placed in the bracket so as not to face each other until the semifinals. All other competitors were placed by draw. Beijing University Of Technology Gymnasium
The Beijing University of Technology Gymnasium () is an indoor arena located on the campus of the Beijing University of Technology in the Chaoyang District in Beijing, China. Hwang Yu-mi
Hwang Yu-mi (Hangul: 황유미; born 18 March 1983) is a South Korean former badminton player. She competed at the 2004 and 2008 Summer Olympics. Career In 2003, she won the silver medal at the Asian Championships in the women's doubles event. Hwang competed for South Korea in badminton at the 2004 Summer Olympics in women's doubles with partner Lee Hyo-jung. They had a bye in the first round and defeated Cheng Wen-Hsing and Chien Yu Chin of Chinese Taipei in the second. Hendri Kurniawan Saputra
Hendri Kurniawan Saputra (born 12 May 1981) is an Indonesian-born Singaporean retired badminton player. Career Saputra and his brother, Hendra Wijaya, joined the Singapore Badminton Association (SBA) in 2000 and both became Singapore citizens after five years. He won a silver medal, along with his brother and also partner, Hendra Wijaya, in the men's doubles, and bronze with Li Yujia in the mixed doubles at the 2007 Southeast Asian Games in Bangkok, Thailand. Kamilla Rytter Juhl
Kamilla Rytter Juhl (born 23 November 1983) is a retired Danish badminton player. Juhl is an Olympic silver medalist, World Championship gold medalist and seven times European champion as well. Career Rytter Juhl played as a left-handed doubles specialist. Juhl enjoyed a successful mixed doubles career with Thomas Laybourn, winning the 2009 BWF World Championships and two European titles in 2006 and 2010. The pair also won the BWF World Superseries Finals in 2008, and won a total of two Superseries titles. Thomas Laybourn (born 30 September 1977) is a retired badminton player from Denmark. He is a World Champion, two times European Champion and was ranked as world number 1 in the mixed doubles in January 2011. Career Laybourn won the 2006 European Badminton Championships in the mixed doubles with partner Kamilla Rytter Juhl. Georgie Winsley Cupidon (born November 10, 1981) is a badminton player from Seychelles. Robert Bogumił Mateusiak (born 13 January 1976) is a Polish retired badminton player. Career Łogosz and Mateusiak won bronze medals at the European Championships in 2000, 2002, 2004, and 2006. Partnered with Nadieżda Zięba in the mixed doubles event, they won a silver medal at the 2008 European Badminton Championships and a gold medal at the 2012 European Badminton Championships. Donna Kellogg
Donna Victoria Kellogg, (born 20 January 1978) is an English former badminton player. She is the European Champion, winning the women's doubles titles in 2000, 2006 and the mixed doubles title in 2008. She won the silver medal at the 2006 World Championships. Kellogg also won the women's doubles title at the 1998 Commonwealth Games, and was part of the England winning team at the 1998 and 2002 Commonwealth Games. Career Kellogg first played badminton at the age of 10. Her first representative match for England was against China at the 1997 World Championships in Scotland. Valérie "Val" Loker (born May 1, 1980) is a Canadian badminton player. She won a silver medal, along with her partner Mike Beres in the mixed doubles at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, against the winning U.S. pair Howard Bach and Eva Lee, with a score of 18–21 and 17–21. Loker is also a member of Club Excellence Yonex Laval in Montreal, Quebec, and is coached and trained by Jean-Paul Girard.
