Badminton At The 2024 Summer Paralympics – Men's Singles SL3
Badminton at the 2024 Summer Paralympics in Paris, France will be played at the Porte de La Chapelle Arena from 29 August to 2 September. There will be sixteen events taking place, two more events than the previous Games: seven events for men and women (six singles, one doubles) and two mixed doubles events. Classification There will be six different classes in competition. *WH1: Athletes who have impairment in both lower limbs and trunk and/or have high spinal cord injuries. They may also have impaired hand function which could impact the ability to manoeuvre in their wheelchair. Porte De La Chapelle Arena
The Adidas Arena, (also known by its project name Paris Arena II and its trade name Adidas Arena), is a multi-purpose and modular hall located in La Chapelle neighborhood of Paris (18th arrondissement). The arena will have a capacity of 8,000 seats for sporting events and 9,000 seats for concerts and shows, as well as two gymnasiums intended for use by local clubs and residents. Badminton at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan, was played at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium (renamed to Yoyogi National Stadium for the Games) from 1 to 5 September 2021. There were a total of fourteen events taking place: seven male events (six singles, one doubles), six female events (four singles, two doubles) and one mixed doubles event. The 2020 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They kept the 2020 name and were held from 24 August to 5 September 2021. Para-badminton is a variant of badminton for athletes with a range of physical disabilities. Badminton World Federation (BWF) is the main governing body for para-badminton starting from June 2011. A spinal cord injury (SCI) is damage to the spinal cord that causes temporary or permanent changes in its function. Symptoms may include loss of muscle function, sensation, or autonomic function in the parts of the body served by the spinal cord below the level of the injury. Poliomyelitis, commonly shortened to polio, is an infectious disease caused by the poliovirus. Achondroplasia
Achondroplasia is a genetic disorder with an autosomal dominant pattern of inheritance whose primary feature is dwarfism. In those with the condition, the arms and legs are short, while the torso is typically of normal length. Those affected have an average adult height of for males and for females. Badminton At The 2024 Summer Olympics
The badminton tournaments at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris are scheduled to run from 27 July to 5 August at Porte de la Chapelle Arena. A total of 172 badminton players, with an equal distribution between men and women, will compete across five medal events (two per gender and a mixed) at these Games, the exact same amount as those in the previous editions.
