Badminton At The 2018 Commonwealth Games – Mixed Team
The mixed team badminton event at the 2018 Commonwealth Games was held from 5 to 9 April at the Carrara Sports and Leisure Centre on the Gold Coast, Australia. The teams were drawn into four groups of four teams. The top two teams in each group advanced to the knockout stage. Each tie was player over five matches, one each for men's and women's singles, and men's, women's and mixed doubles. The draw for the group stage was conducted on 6 February 2018. Carrara Sports And Leisure Centre
Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre is a multi-purpose arena and sports facility located at Carrara on Queensland's Gold Coast in Australia, capable of seating 5,000 fans. The centre is located adjacent to the Carrara Indoor Stadium and forms part of the Gold Coast Sports Precinct. A section of the centre also serves as a sports administration and indoor training facility for the Gold Coast Suns with the facility being called the Austworld Centre under a naming rights partnership, who play home matches and train outdoors at the adjacent Carrara Stadium and training oval. Constructed for use in the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre hosted badminton, powerlifting, weightlifting and wrestling competitions. The mixed team badminton event at the 2014 Commonwealth Games was held from July 24 to July 28 at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow. The teams were drawn into group stage draw. The top team in each group along with the two best runners-up advanced to the knockout round. The draw for the competition was done on July 21, 2014. This was Malaysia's third consecutive gold medal in the mixed team event at the Commonwealth Games. Badminton
Badminton is a racquet sport played using racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net. Although it may be played with larger teams, the most common forms of the game are "singles" (with one player per side) and "doubles" (with two players per side). The 2018 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXI Commonwealth Games and also known as Gold Coast 2018, was an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth that were held on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, between 4 and 15 April 2018. Badminton events at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast, Australia took place between Thursday 5 April and Sunday 15 April at the Carrara Sports and Leisure Centre. Badminton is one of ten core sports at the Commonwealth Games and has been continuously held at the Games since its first appearance at the 1966 British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Kingston, Jamaica. The badminton programme in 2018 included men's and women's singles competitions; men's, women's and mixed doubles competitions alongside a mixed team event throughout the 11 days of competition.
