Badminton At The 2014 Summer Youth Olympics
Badminton at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics took place from 17 to 22 August 2014. The competition was held at the Nanjing Sport Institute in Nanjing, China. Qualification 56 places, 28 per each gender were decided by the junior world rankings released on 2 May 2014. Each National Olympic Committee (NOC) could enter a maximum of 2 competitors per gender should they both rank in the top 4 in the junior world rankings. Each of the five continents must be represented in each gender thus the highest ranked player from each continent automatically qualifies. China will also automatically qualify due to it being the host nation, however this did not happen as China already qualified two athletes in each gender due to rankings. Finally, the quarterfinalists from the 2014 World Junior Championships qualified provided they did not surpass the maximum quota for each NOC. Badminton At The 2010 Summer Youth Olympics
Badminton competition at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics was held from August 15 to August 19, 2010 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. Format and schedule 32 players from each event were drawn into eight groups. Of the eight groups, only the group winner of each group advanced into the knockout stage, starting with the quarterfinals. The group stage were played from August 15–16, 2010, while the knockput stage were played from August 17–19, 2010. Qualification Only players born between January 1, 1992, and December 31, 1993, are eligible to participate. Highest ranked men and women (one per National Olympic Committee) qualify according to continental quotas at youth continental championships or based on continental ranking list (Two quotas each for Africa, America and Oceania, while five quotas each for Asia and Europe). Alex Christiaan Vlaar ( bg, Алекс Флаар; born 31 July 1996) is a Dutch-Bulgarian badminton player. He was born in Lelystad, the Netherlands. His father Chris Vlaar is a Dutch rally car driver and badminton coach, his mother is former badminton player Emilia Dimitrova who is also a coach. She played for Bulgaria at the 1992 Olympics women's doubles. Career Born in the Netherlands, Vlaar is a former young Dutch badminton player who first played for the Netherlands team. Seo Seung-jae (Hangul: 서승재; born 4 September 1997) is a South Korean badminton player. In 2014, he competed at the Summer Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China.
