Badminton at the 1983 SEA Games was held at Singapore Badminton Hall, Singapore City, Singapore. Badminton events was held between 28 May to 6 June. Medal winners In the individual events, Indonesia captured 4 titles, while Singapore won a title in the men's singles event. Wong Shoon Keat made a history as the first ever Singaporean player to win a gold medal at the Games. Former Singapore Badminton Hall
The Former Singapore Badminton Hall (Abbreviation: SBH; ), formerly Singapore Badminton Stadium, is a former indoor sports hall for badminton located on Guillemard Road in Geylang, Singapore. The old facility was previously situated at 100 Guillemard Road. The hall's nearby building (102 Guillemard Road) was formerly the headquarters of the Singapore Badminton Association (SBA). Both buildings were refurnished in May 2009 as the commercial centre Guillemard Village. The current Singapore Badminton Hall is located at 1 Lorong 23 Geylang. History Construction The original Singapore Badminton Stadium was built in 1952 for the Thomas Cup Tournament. The first tournament was held in the UK in 1949, and the Malayan team won the championship. As a result, Malaya also won the right to host the next Thomas Cup, that was scheduled for 1952. Rosiana Tendean
Rosiana Tendean (born 25 August 1964) is an Indonesian retired badminton player. Career A doubles specialist, Tendean competed in women’s doubles with Erma Sulistianingsih at the 1992 Summer Olympics. Together, they won consecutive World Grand Prix Finals titles in 1989 and 1990, and two Indonesia Open titles in 1989 and 1992. Tendean had also won this title earlier with Ivana Lie in 1987, and in mixed doubles with Rudy Gunawan in 1990 and 1993. Rosiana and Rudy Gunawan won three Badminton World Cups in a row between 1990 and 1992, as well as the Hong Kong and Polish Opens in 1993. She won her first significant international title in women's doubles at the 1985 Southeast Asian Games with the veteran Imelda Wiguno. Ivana Lie Ing Hoa (; born March 7, 1960) is an Indonesian former badminton player who played at the world level from the late 1970s to the late 1980s. Early life She was born in Bandung, Indonesia on 7 March 1960. She came from a poor family; her mother was a dressmaker.
