Shahid Shiroudi Stadium
The Shahid Shiroudi Stadium () formerly known as Amjadiyeh Stadium is a sports stadium in Tehran, Iran. It is currently used for athletics and held football matches until 2009. The stadium is able to seat 30,000 people and was opened in 1942. It was called Amjadieh Stadium () until the Iranian Revolution. In September 2015 it was announced the stadium and the complex would undergo a massive renovation. History The stadium is one of the oldest sports stadiums in Iran. It was built in 1942 and was located in North of Tehran at the time of opening, while it is now in center of Tehran. Imelda Wiguna (also known as ''Imelda Wigoena'', , born 12 October 1951) is a former badminton player from Indonesia who played at the world class level from the mid-1970s through the mid-1980s. Career A doubles specialist, Wiguna's two most impressive years in badminton were 1979 and 1980. In 1979 she won both doubles events, women's doubles with Verawaty Wiharjo and mixed doubles with Christian Hadinata, at the prestigious All-England Championships. The following year she reached the final of both events at the then triennial IBF World Championships in Jakarta, losing the women's doubles with Verawaty but winning the mixed doubles with Christian. Qiu Yufang (裘毓芳), (1871–1904), courtesy name Meilu (梅侣), was a Chinese journalist and feminist, born in Wuxi (無錫), Jiangsu province, China. She is regarded as the first female journalist in China. Hiroe Yuki
(15 November 1948 – 7 September 2011 in Tokyo) was a Japanese badminton player. She won numerous major international titles from the late 1960s to the late 1970s. Career Yuki was among the most notable of a cadre of fine players who helped Japan to win five of the six Uber Cup (women's world team) competitions held between 1966 and 1981. With the possible exception of Etsuko Toganoo she was Japan's most successful ever player at the prestigious All-England Championships winning four singles titles (1969, 1974, 1975, 1977) there, as well as a doubles title (1971) in partnership with her friendly rival Noriko Takagi. At the 1972 Olympics, she won a bronze medal in Women's singles, when badminton was played as a demonstration sport. In the latter part of her career she earned a women's singles bronze medal at the first IBF World Championships in 1977. Liang Qiuxia
Liang Qiuxia (Chinese: 梁秋霞 W.-G. Liang Chiu Hsia, born, Cirebon, West Java; 9 September 1950) is a former badminton player representing China, after migrating from Indonesia. She is also the sister of 6 time All-England Men Doubles Champion, Tjun Tjun, who represented Indonesia. Liang Qiuxia was one of the most important Chinese badminton players of the 1970s. During this era China belonged to the WBF, which it sponsored, and the larger IBF, so that Liang Qiuxia could rarely compete with the best of the world. In 1974 she won silver in the Asian Games in Women's Singles and Gold in Women's Doubles with Cheng Huiming. Prakash Padukone (born 10 June 1955) is a former Indian badminton player. He was ranked World No. 1 in 1980; the same year he became the first Indian to win the All England Open Badminton Championships. He was awarded the Arjuna award in 1972 and the Padma Shri in 1982 by the Government of India. He is one of the co-founders of Olympic Gold Quest, a foundation dedicated to the promotion of Olympic sports in India. Early life Padukone was born on 10 June 1955 in Bangalore in Karnataka.
