Badlands National Park
Badlands National Park () is a List of national parks of the United States, national park of the United States in southwestern South Dakota. Red Shirt Table
Red Shirt Table is a tableland in Oglala Lakota County, South Dakota, within the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation of the Oglala Sioux Tribe. The table, named after Chief Red Shirt is approximately long, generally extending in a north–south direction, and is located along the western boundary of Badlands National Park's Stronghold Unit. The park's highest point is located at the southern end of the table at . The irregularly shaped southern portion of the table is connected to the more rectangular northern portion by a narrow section less than wide; the northern portion is up to two miles (3 km) wide and is composed of two elongated lobes with a runoff channel between them. Three Affiliated Tribes
The Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Nation (MHA Nation), also known as the Three Affiliated Tribes (Mandan: ''Miiti Naamni''; Hidatsa: ''Awadi Aguraawi''; Arikara: ''ačitaanu' táWIt''), is a federally recognized Native American Nation resulting from the alliance of the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara peoples, whose Indigenous lands ranged across the Missouri River basin extending from present day North Dakota through western Montana and Wyoming. The Red Power movement was a social movement which was led by Native American youth who demanded self-determination for Native Americans in the United States. Organizations that were part of the Red Power Movement include the American Indian Movement (AIM) and the National Indian Youth Council (NIYC). This movement advocated the belief that Native Americans should have the right to implement their own policies and programs along with the belief that Native Americans should maintain and control their own land and resources. The Red Power movement took a confrontational and civil disobedience approach in an attempt to incite changes in Native American affairs in the United States compared to using negotiations and settlements, which national Native American groups such as National Congress of American Indians had before. The Treaty of Fort Laramie (also the Sioux Treaty of 1868) is an agreement between the United States and the Oglala Lakota, Oglala, Miniconjou, and Brulé bands of Lakota people, Yanktonai Dakota, and Arapaho Nation, following the failure of the Treaty of Fort Laramie (1851), first Fort Laramie treaty, signed in 1851. The treaty is divided into 17 articles.
