Badian, officially the Municipality of Badian ( ceb, Lungsod sa Badian; tgl, Bayan ng Badian), is a 3rd class municipality in the province of Cebu, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 43,735 people. Geography Badian is from Cebu City. Badian is bordered to the north by the town of Moalboal, to the west is the Tañon Strait, to the east is the town of Dalaguete, and to the south is the town of Alegria. Barangays Badian comprises 29 barangays: Poblacion The main barangay of Badian is the Poblacion, located in the center of the town. It is the only urban barangay, and the most populous of Badian. It contains the hospital and the marketplace where most of the trading takes place. Many vendors from all over town trade here particularly at weekends. Ernst Badian
Ernst Badian (8 August 1925 – 1 February 2011) was an Austrian-born classical scholar who served as a professor at Harvard University from 1971 to 1998. Early life and education Badian was born in Vienna in 1925 and in 1938 fled the Nazis with his family to New Zealand. There he attended the University of Canterbury, Christchurch (then Canterbury College), where he met his future wife Nathlie Ann Wimsett. He received a BA in 1945 and an MA the following year. After a year teaching at the Victoria University of Wellington, Badian went to University College, Oxford, where he studied under George Cawkwell, gained a first class BA in Litt Hum in 1950, an MA in 1954 and a DPhil in 1956. In addition, he gained the degree of LittD from New Zealand's Victoria University of Wellington in 1962. Elyakim Badian
Elyakim-Gustav Badian ( he, אליקים-גוסטב בדיאן, 12 December 1925 – 13 February 2000) was an Israeli politician who served as a member of the Knesset for Likud between 1977 and 1981. Biography Born in Chernivtsi in Romania (today in Ukraine), Badian joined the Zionist Movement. He attempted to make aliyah to Mandatory Palestine, but was captured by the British authorities and sent to one of the Cyprus internment camps in 1947, where he became a member of the High Committee. In 1949 he finally made aliyah. He studied engineering at the Technion, and was later awarded an MBA by Tel Aviv University. Maya Badian
Maya Badian (born 18 April 1945 in Bucharest) is a Romanian-born Canadian composer, musicologist, and professor. Biography Badian began to compose at five years of age, and later attended the Bucharest National University of Music in Bucharest, where she studied with Tiberiu Olah, Aurel Stroe, Zeno Vancea and Tudor Ciortea, graduating with a master's degree in Composition in 1968. She continued her studies in orchestral conducting in Weimar, Germany during 1972. Since 1970, Badian has been a member of the Union of Romanian Composers and Musicologists. She was music director at the Radiophonic Theatre Department of the Romanian Broadcasting Corporation from 1968 to 1972 and a music professor at the George Enescu School of Music in Bucharest between 1973 and 1985.
