Badge Of The Communications Security Establishment
History In response to a request from the Chief of CSE, a warrant authorizing the creation of a badge was signed by the Deputy Herald Chancellor of the Canadian Heraldic Authority (at that time, Lieutenant-General James Cyrille Gervais), on January 26, 1994. The CSE badge was granted by the Chief Herald of Canada, under the authority of the Governor General (at that time, Raymon John Hnatyshyn), on July 15, 1994, to mark the 48th anniversary of the organization's founding; it was officially presented to the Chief on October 19, 1994. Ramon John Hnatyshyn ( ; uk, Роман Іванович Гнатишин, Roman Ivanovych Hnatyshyn, ; March 16, 1934December 18, 2002) was a Canadian lawyer and statesman who served as governor general of Canada, the 24th since Canadian Confederation. Hnatyshyn was born and educated in Saskatchewan and served in the Royal Canadian Air Force prior to being elected to the House of Commons of Canada, House of Commons in 1974. On June 4, 1979, Hnatyshyn was sworn into the Queen's Privy Council for Canada and served as a minister of the Crown in two non-successive governments until 1988. He was appointed governor general by Queen Elizabeth II in 1989, on the recommendation of Prime Minister of Canada, Prime Minister Brian Mulroney. The Public Register of Arms, Flags and Badges of Canada contains the heraldic emblems that have been granted, registered, approved or confirmed by the Canadian Heraldic Authority since its inception on June 4, 1988. In 2005, the Canadian Heraldic Authority began the process of creating a digital version of the register available online. Completed grant documents are recorded in the register and the notice of the grant is published in the ''Canada Gazette''. The Sir Leonard Tilley Building and Annex (french: Édifice Sir-Leonard-Tilley), is a Government of Canada office building property consisting of two buildings and operated by the Public Works and Government Services Canada and located at 719 Heron Road in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It was designed by Bemi & Associates Architects. The floor space covers 23,832 square metres and the land area covers 4.527 hectares. Until 2015, the building housed the headquarters of the Communications Security Establishment (CSE). This building was named in honour of Samuel Leonard Tilley, federal Finance Minister in 1873–1878. The completion of a new headquarters building on Ogilvie Road led the CSE to vacate the building by 2016.
