Baden Powell (mathematician)
Baden Powell, MA FRS FRGS (22 August 1796 – 11 June 1860) was an English mathematician and Church of England priest. He held the Savilian Chair of Geometry at the University of Oxford from 1827 to 1860. Powell was a prominent liberal theologian who put forward advanced ideas about evolution. His father, Baden Powell I (1767-1841), of Langton and Speldhurst in Kent, was a wine merchant, who served as High Sheriff of Kent in 1831, and as Master of the Worshipful Company of Mercers in 1822. Baden-Powell International House
The B P International, more formally known as Baden-Powell International House, is a 25-storey three star hotel and conference centre in the Tsim Sha Tsui neighbourhood on the Kowloon Peninsula, Hong Kong. Run by The Scout Association of Hong Kong, which hold offices there, it shows limited Scouting presence. The formal address is 8 Austin Road. Hotel B P International has 529 rooms and seven suites, accommodating over one thousand guests. All rooms have quality modern amenities. For conferences and other large groups, the Gordon Wu Hall on the upper ground floor can hold up to 1,000 people in various settings. The first five floors of the building provide a 500+ spaces parking area. The three restaurants are in the basement and on the ground floor. Baden-Powell House
Queen's Gate House, still commonly known by its previous name of Baden-Powell House, is a conference centre in South Kensington, London. It was built as a tribute to Lord Baden-Powell, the founder of Scouting, and has served as the headquarters for The Scout Association, as a hostel providing modern and affordable lodging for Scouts, Guides, their families and the general public staying in London and as a conference and event venue. The building committee, chaired by Sir Harold Gillett, Lord Mayor of London, purchased the site in 1956, and assigned Ralph Tubbs to design the house in the modern architectural style. The foundation stone was laid in 1959 by World Chief Guide Olave, Lady Baden-Powell, and it was opened in 1961 by Queen Elizabeth II. Mount Baden-Powell () is a peak in the San Gabriel Mountains of California named for the founder of the World Scouting Movement, Robert Baden-Powell, 1st Baron Baden-Powell. It was officially recognized by the USGS at a dedication ceremony in 1931. It was originally known as East Twin or North Baldy. Arthur Redvers Baden Powell (13 March 1900 – 25 November 1955) was an Australian politician and a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly for 3 months in 1950. He was a member of the Labor Party. Early life Powell was born in Mountain Ash, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales and was the son of a coalminer. He was educated to elementary level in Wales and worked as a miner there until he emigrated to Australia with his parents in 1927. In Australia, he became active in the Labor Party and worked as an ironworker at the Wollongong Steelworks until 1932. He then became the secretary for Billy Davies, a Labor member of the Legislative Assembly for a number of seats in the Illawarra region between 1917 and 1949.
