Badalona Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona Metro)
Badalona Pompeu Fabra is the name of a Barcelona Metro station in downtown Badalona, a municipality in the metropolitan area of Barcelona, served by metro line L2, and its northern terminus. Saveguarded plans for the extension of L1 also include this station. It's named after Pompeu Fabra, grammarian and political figure. If the project is finally approved, it will be part of L13 as well. Construction started in October 2005 and was initially expected to be opened in 2007 under the working name ''Badalona Centre''. Badalona (, , , ) is a Municipalities of Spain, municipality to the immediate north east of Barcelona in Catalonia, Spain. It is located on the left bank of the Besòs River and on the Mediterranean Sea, in the Barcelona metropolitan area. By population, it is the third largest city in Catalonia and the Ranked lists of Spanish municipalities, twenty-third in Spain. It became a city in 1897. The Barcelona Metro (Catalan and Spanish: ) is an extensive network of rapid transit electrified railway lines that run mostly underground in central Barcelona and into the city's suburbs. It is part of the larger public transport system of Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia, Spain, with unified fares under the (ATM) scheme. Line 1, shortened to L1, coloured red and often simply called ''Línia vermella'' ("Red Line"), is the second oldest Barcelona Metro line, after line L3. Pompeu Fabra
Pompeu Fabra i Poch (; Gràcia, Barcelona, 20 February 1868 – Prada de Conflent, 25 December 1948) was a Spanish engineer and grammarian. He was the main author of the normative reform of contemporary Catalan language. Life Pompeu Fabra was born in Gràcia, which at that time was still separate from Barcelona, in 1868. He was the last of twelve children born to Josep Fabra i Roca and his wife Carolina Poch i Martí. When Pompeu was six, the family moved to Barcelona. From a fairly young age Fabra dedicated himself to the study of the Catalan language. Through the journal and publishing house , he participated in a campaign to reform Catalan orthography between 1890–92. He published ''Tractat d'ortografia catalana'' with the writer and publisher and , a notable lawyer and writer, in 1904. Barcelona Metro Line 13
Line 13 is the name of a proposed service in the Barcelona Metro network which would join La Morera (neighborhood) in Badalona, a municipality of Barcelonès to the north of Barcelona, with the hilly area around Can Ruti Hospital. The line, which will be a short hybrid light rail-metro addition to the main subway lines which will cover a poorly communicated area, similar to L11 and L8, was announced in 2002 by Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalan government). It was also made public the line will be displayed in maps using a shade of pink (Pantone 232C). In the future Morera, L13 will join L2, and will not be too far from the new terminus of L1, which are currently being extended into this area of Badalona, in what will be '' Badalona Centre''.
