Bad Rehburg
Bad Rehburg is a former spa resort in the Rehburg Hills in central Germany. Today Bad Rehburg is a village in the borough of Rehburg-Loccum in the south of the district of Landkreis Nienburg/Weser, Nienburg/Weser in Lower Saxony. The village lies at an elevation of and has around 800 inhabitants. Location and transport Bad Rehburg lies on the Bundesstraße 441, B 441 federal road and about 25 km from the Bundesautobahn 2, A 2 motorway and its exit of Wunstorf-Luthe. The village nestles between Lake Steinhude and the River Weser on the heights of the Rehburg Hills around 5 km southwest of Lake Steinhude and about 12 km east of the Weser. Bad Rehburg is almost surrounded by woodland; only in the northeast do a few fields border the houses. Since 1997 a "citizen's bus" (''Bürgerbus'') has run between the villages in Rehburg-Loccum. The Kingdom of Hanover (german: Königreich Hannover) was established in October 1814 by the Congress of Vienna, with the restoration of George III to his Hanoverian territories after the Napoleonic era. Ernst Jünger
Ernst Jünger (; 29 March 1895 – 17 February 1998) was a German author, highly decorated soldier, philosopher, and entomologist who became publicly known for his World War I memoir '' Storm of Steel''. The son of a successful businessman and chemist, Jünger rebelled against an affluent upbringing and sought adventure in the ''Wandervogel'' German youth movement, before running away to briefly serve in the French Foreign Legion, an illegal act. Because he escaped prosecution in Germany due to his father's efforts, Jünger was able to enlist in the German Army on the outbreak of World War I in 1914. During an ill-fated offensive in 1918 Jünger suffered the last and most serious of his many woundings, and he was awarded the ''Pour le Mérite'', a rare decoration for one of his rank. Otto Kohlrausch
Otto Ludwig Bernhard Kohlrausch (20 March 1811 – 14 November 1854) was a German physician and surgeon born in Barmen. His son Christian Georg Kohlrausch (1851-1934) rediscovered the discus throw. He studied natural sciences at the University of Bonn and medicine at University of Göttingen. He visited hospitals in Copenhagen and London, then in 1835 started a medical practice in Hanover. In 1841 he established a health spa at Bad Rehburg on behalf of the government. Otto Kohlrausch was a member of a distinguished family of scientists and scholars; an uncle of his was famed physicist Friedrich Kohlrausch (1840–1910). The eponymous "Kohlrausch's valves" are named after him (also known as the transverse rectal folds). Another anatomical structure associated with his name is "Kohlrausch's muscle", a term used to refer to any of the longitudinal muscles of the rectal wall.
