Bad Mood Rising is the 26th studio album by American rock band Melvins, released on August 21, 2022, through Amphetamine Reptile Records. It joined streaming services on September 30, 2022. Recording Speaking to ''It's Psychedelic Baby'' magazine, drummer Dale Crover stated that "We've been working with Toshi Kasai, the engineer, for a long time. We've been working with him since the beginning of the 2000s and for the last seven years, we've had a studio with him. So yeah, quite a few records that we've made have been in that studio and it's also where we rehearse. So, it's really easy to go in and like to sit there and learn something and record it right there. Since we've had that studio, once we get in there, I'll learn a song and once I know it, I'll start recording it right away. Melvins (sometimes the Melvins) are an American rock band formed in 1983 in Montesano, Washington. Their early work was key to the development of both grunge and sludge metal. Primarily a trio, they have also performed as a quartet, with either two drummers or two bassists. Since 1984, vocalist and guitarist Buzz Osborne and drummer Dale Crover have been constant members. Sludge metal (also known as sludge doom or simply sludge) is an Extreme metal, extreme subgenre of heavy metal music that combines elements of doom metal and hardcore punk. The genre generally includes slow tempos, down-tuned guitars and nihilistic lyrics discussing poverty, drug addiction and pollution. ''Tarantula Heart'' is the 27th studio album by the American rock band the Melvins, released on April 19, 2024, via Ipecac Recordings. The first session took place in May 2022 with drummer / synthesist Roy Mayorga, and the second happened in January 2023 with guitarist Gary Chester. Dale Crover
Dale Crover (born October 23, 1967) is an American rock musician. Crover is best known as the drummer for Melvins and has also been the drummer for Men of Porn, Shrinebuilder, Crystal Fairy and, for a brief time, Nirvana. He is also guitarist and vocalist for Altamont. He has toured with Fantômas (filling in for Dave Lombardo), Off!, and Redd Kross. In 2016, Rolling Stone listed him as the 69th greatest drummer of all time. Biography Melvins recruited Crover on drums in 1984 from an Iron Maiden cover band, following original drummer Mike Dillard's departure. Toshi Kasai
Toshi Kasai is a Japanese record producer, engineer, mixer and musician. He is most well known for his strong vocal production work with hard rock and metal groups such as his long standing relationship with The Melvins and his work with Tool. In addition to his recorded production work, Toshi was a member of the band Big Business and Nate Mendel's band Lieutenant. He is also a member of Altamont, The Dale Crover Band. In 2019, he opened for Melvins and Redd Kross under his own name, playing Moog Synthesizer to oscilloscope and projections. Roger "Buzz" Osborne (born March 25, 1964), also known as King Buzzo, is an American guitarist, vocalist, songwriter and golfer.
