Bad Habits (The Monks Album)
''Bad Habits'' is an album by The Monks, released in 1979. It is a spoof of punk rock led by the former rhythm section of the trad rockers, Strawbs. The songs are composed by Richard Hudson, John Ford and Terry Cassidy. The album was surprisingly, and nearly exclusively, very popular in Canada, but made no impact in the United States, and very little in the band's native United Kingdom. "Nice Legs Shame About Her Face" was a number 19 hit single in the UK Singles Chart. While the album failed to produce further UK chart success, the band were very popular in Canada. "Drugs in My Pocket" was a Top 20 single in Canada in the fall of 1980, and ''Bad Habits'' earned double platinum certification in 1982. The Monks (UK Band)
The Monks were an English pop punk/ new wave band, formed in the late 1970s by three former members of Strawbs— Richard Hudson (guitar), John Ford (vocals, guitars, synthesisers) and Brian Willoughby—along with Terry Cassidy (vocals and synthesisers) and Clive Pierce (drums). Chris Murphy (Canadian Musician)
Chris Murphy (born November 7, 1968) is a member of the Canadian rock band Sloan. Early life Murphy was born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. His family later moved to Charlottesville, Virginia, where his father obtained a Ph.D. from the University of Virginia. He later moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he attended Halifax West High School and the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. Musical career Murphy originally formed Sloan with Jay Ferguson. Murphy is the band's primary bassist, occasionally switching to drums or guitar, and is one of the band's two main singers; he sings lead on about 40 percent of the band's songs and backup harmony vocals on most of the others. Ian Blurton (born 1965) is a Canadian musician and record producer. Early life He was born in Champaign, Illinois in 1965, and moved to Toronto in 1973.
