''Back Stabbers'' is a studio album by Philadelphia soul group The O'Jays, released in August 1972 on Philadelphia International Records and the iTunes version was released and reissued under Epic Records via Legacy Recordings. Recording sessions for the album took place at Sigma Sound Studios in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1972. Reception ''Back Stabbers'' was a breakthrough album for the group, reaching the top 10 of the Billboard Pop Albums chart and selling over 500,000 copies within a year of release. It also featured two of their most successful singles, "Back Stabbers" and "Love Train", which hit #1 on the Billboard Pop Singles chart. On September 1, 1972, the title track was certified as a gold single by the Recording Industry Association of America. The following year, on May 8, ''Back Stabbers'' was also certified Gold by the RIAA. Back Stabbers (song)
"Back Stabbers" is a 1972 song by the O'Jays. Released from the hit album of the same name, it spent one week at number 1 on the Hot Soul Singles chart. It was also successful on the pop chart, peaking at number 3 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in October 1972. The narrator in "Back Stabbers" warns men about their male "friends" who smile to their faces, but are secretly planning to steal their wives or girlfriends. It was inspired by an earlier hit with a similar theme, the Undisputed Truth's "Smiling Faces Sometimes", the chorus of which is quoted at the end of this song. It was part of the soundtrack for the 1977 movie, '' Looking for Mr. Goodbar''. This was the O'Jays first release with Philadelphia International. ''Yes, Virginia...'' is the second studio album by American dark cabaret band the Dresden Dolls, released on April 18, 2006, by Roadrunner Records. The album was recorded in September 2005, with some extra vocal work and the mixing done the following November. It is named after a reply to a letter run in the ''New York Sun'' in 1897 about the existence of Santa Claus (see "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus"). The first single from the album was "Sing". The album made its debut at number 42 on the US ''Billboard'' 200, selling 19,000 units in the first week; despite this, the album's sales fell off quickly, resulting in Roadrunner pulling its support for the album shortly after its release and creating tensions between the band and the label. Ripchord (band)
Ripchord was an English four piece rock band, formed in 2004 in Wolverhampton. The band supported acts such as The Kooks, Babyshambles and The Kaiser Chiefs. They took their name from the Radiohead song ‘Ripcord’ with an added 'h'. The band was signed to 1965 Records and released two singles - Lock Up Your Daughters (And Throw Away The Key) & Backstabber, the first of which was a limited edition single of only 1,000 copies.
