''Backpackers'' is a 2021 Indian Malayalam-language drama film directed by Jayaraj and starring Kalidas Jayaram and newcomer Karthika Nair. The film was released on the OTT platform Roots to negative reviews. Plot Based on a true story, two cancer patients fall in love. Jayarajan Rajasekharan Nair, professionally credited as Jayaraj, is an Indian filmmaker, who predominantly works in Malayalam film industry. Kalidas Jayaram (born 16 December 1993) is an Indian actor who predominantly appears in Malayalam cinema, Malayalam and Tamil cinema, Tamil films. The son of film actors Jayaram and Parvathy Jayaram, Parvathy, Kalidas made his debut in the Malayalam film ''Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal'' (2000) at the age of seven. Renji Panicker (born 23 September 1960) is an Indian actor, scriptwriter, director, film producer, and journalist best known for his Malayalam films. He made his debut as a director with ''Bharatchandran IPS'' in 2005. Sabitha Jayaraj is an Indian costume designer and actress, who works in Malayalam cinema. Career Sabitha started off her career as a costume designer in the Malayalam film industry in the 90s.
