Backnang - Stiftskirche - Hinten
Backnang (; swg, Bagene) is a town in Germany in the Bundesland (Germany), Bundesland of Baden-Württemberg, roughly northeast of Stuttgart. Its population has increased greatly over the past century, from 7,650 in 1900 to 35,761 in 2005. Backnang was ceded to Württemberg by the Grand Duchy of Baden, Baden (Zähringer family) in 1325. Backnang has been known as ''Gerberstadt'' due to several Tanning (leather), tanneries and leather factory, factories, and wool and Textile manufacturing, cloth mills that dominated Backnang's industries. Today, all of these have vanished, and instead, telecommunication companies such as Ericsson (formerly AEG, Telefunken, ANT Nachrichtentechnik, Robert Bosch GmbH, Bosch and Marconi Company, Marconi) and Tesat-Spacecom dominate the town's industries. Volker Hauff (born 9 August 1940) is a German politician of the Social Democratic Party (SPD). Political career Since 1959, Hauff has been a member of the SPD. From 1969 to 1989 he was a member of the Bundestag. Ferdinand Schneider
Ferdinand Gottlob Schneider (18 June 1911 – 11 May 1984) was a German chemist. Schneider was born in Backnang in the Kingdom of Württemberg. He studied at the University of Tübingen, Freiburg and Munich (Ph.D. 1934) and subsequently held the positions of privat-docent at the Dresden University of Technology (1941), Technical University of Danzig and professor at the Braunschweig University of Technology (1949–1970). Schneider is the author of the German edition of ''Sugar Technology'' and hundreds of sugar-related articles. Professor Schneider was director of Agricultoral Technology and the Sugar Industry in Braunschweig. He taught sugar technology for many years in Germany. During his career, he trained many men and women from around the world who have PhD in sugar technology. In 1929 he joined the fraternity Landsmannschaft Schottland. Bácsalmás ( hr, Aljmaš or ; german: Almasch; sr, Аљмаш, Aljmaš) is a small town in southern Hungary in the region of Bácska (Bács-Kiskun County) close to the border with the Vojvodina region of Serbia, with a population of 7,694 people.
