The Wombats are an English indie rock band formed in Liverpool in 2003, consisting of Matthew Murphy (lead vocals, guitar, keyboards), Tord Øverland Knudsen (bass, backing vocals, keyboards), and Dan Haggis (drums, backing vocals, keyboards). Matthew Edward Murphy (born 23 July 1984) is an English musician, singer, and songwriter. He is best known as the lead vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter of The Wombats, which he co-founded in 2003. He began a solo career under the name Love Fame Tragedy in 2018. "Moving to New York" is a song by the English band the Wombats, taken from their debut album ''A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation''. It was originally released as a non-album single on 7-inch, in limited edition packaging, on 26 October 2006; it was re-released on 14 January 2008, two months after the release of the album. "Moving to New York" is considered one of the band's signature songs.
