Backbeat (soundtrack)
The original soundtrack of the 1994 film ''Backbeat'', also called ''Backbeat'', stars Stephen Dorff, Sheryl Lee, Gary Bakewell and Ian Hart. The music was produced by Don Was. A score based album with Don Was' original music was also released. Recording sessions for the album started on March 26, 1993 at Ocean Way Recording, in Los Angeles, California. Many of the songs on the album were first takes. Don Was stated in an interview with Variety, that "the makeshift band recorded 15 songs in three days with virtually no overdubs (except Pirner’s vocals, recorded on separate dates) and no more than two takes. “The self-imposed deadline was one of the devices that I used to keep it raw and spontaneous, so we wouldn’t scrutinize too much,” Was said. “Because at that stage the Beatles were a wild teenage band that compensated for their lack of finesse with a tremendous amount of energy". Ocean Way Recording was a series of recording studios established by recording engineer and producer Allen Sides with locations in Los Angeles, California, Nashville, Tennessee, and Saint Barthélemy. Greg Dulli (born May 11, 1965) is an American musician from Hamilton, Ohio. Debuting as a member of the rock band the Afghan Whigs in 1986, Dulli has been a member of the Twilight Singers, Gutter Twins, and in 2020 released his debut solo album, '' Random Desire''. It was originally recorded by the Top Notes, but it did not become a hit in the record charts until it was reworked by the Isley Brothers in 1962. "Money (That's What I Want)" is a rhythm and blues song written by Tamla founder Berry Gordy and Janie Bradford, which was the first hit record for Gordy's Motown enterprise. Gumball was an American rock band formed in New York City in 1991. The original lineup consisted of Don Fleming (vocals and guitar), Eric Vermillion (vocals, bass), and Jay Spiegel (drums). In 1992, a fourth member was added, Malcolm Riviera (guitar, keyboards) who had previously played with Fleming and Spiegel in the Velvet Monkeys.
