Back To Earth (Battle Album)
Battle were a UK indie rock band. They came to some prominence with a sound consisting largely of post-punk, spacious guitar hooks and dance-orientated beats, and have been compared to The Cure, and New Order/Joy Division. Later recordings have grown increasingly organic and atmospheric and reveal a kinship with The Smiths, ''Remain in Light'' era Talking Heads and Arcade Fire. The name Battle can be seen as an incitement for the individual to fight for their passions. Many of the band's lyrics revolve around this central theme. The band broke up around October 2007. History Formation Singer Jason Bavanandan and guitarist Jamie Ellis met at school in Lewisham, South East London in the mid-nineties. Battle, East Sussex
Battle is a small town and civil parish in the local government district of Rother in East Sussex, England. It lies south-east of London, east of Brighton and east of Lewes. Hastings is to the south-east and Bexhill-on-Sea to the south. The Strokes
The Strokes are an American rock band from New York City. James (Jamie) Ellis is a British record producer and mixer who previously played guitar with the indie rock group, Battle. He is the son of the journalist and author, Walter Ellis. Guitar
The guitar is a fretted musical instrument that typically has six strings. Gareth Jones (born 1954) is an English music producer and engineer notable for working with Depeche Mode, Einstürzende Neubauten, Wire and Erasure. Background Jones was born in Warrington, Lancashire. He is married and currently living in North London. When he was young he played different instruments but became more interested in music technology. He owned a simple valve tape recorder and began experimenting with tape editing. He later trained at the BBC and began working in recording studios, such as Pathway. At Pathway he recorded and mixed John Foxx's ''Metamatic'' album in 1980 and the first Madness single, "The Prince", in 1979. While working with a band in Vienna the band's manager suggested Jones mix the recordings in West Germany. He did the mixing at Hansa Tonstudio in West Berlin. Alexander Zane Reid Lowe (born 7 August 1973) is a New Zealand radio DJ, live DJ, record producer, and television presenter.
